What does your math tessellation say about you? This fun, back to school activity is the perfect ice breaker for your first day of math class! Suitable for upper elementary, middle school, and even high school! Students will answer a series of questions and decorate their hexagon based on their responses. The questions are designed for you to get to know each student’s learning style, classroom and feedback preferences, and individual strengths/limitations. The artwork will also help you get to know your student’s personal likes and interests! Best of all, you can decorate your bulletin board or classroom door with the finished tessellation. Let’s Chat about Pre-Tests for the new School Year! 📝 🌟
Pre-tests are an amazing, yet often overlooked, tool to help our students get comfy with exams and reduce test anxiety. Plus, they give us a sneak peek into what our students already know and where they might need a bit more help.

My set of math pre-tests cover last year’s standards and are digital and self-checking – no prep at all! Each question is clearly marked with the standard for you to quickly gauge areas of need. Use them the first week of school to set a baseline and put your student’s brains in “math mode” 💭 😆
Grab your pre-tests for 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th in my link in bio - Let’s make this year awesome!

Tables and graphs are a perfect way of visually representing ratios to make math more meaningful to your students. Have students write a ratio problem three ways for a daily warm up!
