There I was. 4 years ago. In an empty gym at 11 pm. (Yet another) attempt at getting into shape next to working full time and being a parent. After a full day at work and after bringing the kids to bed, I’d jump in the car, drive to the other side of town to the only gym open 24/7, train for an hour and then drive home around midnight. I kind of sort of tracked my nutrition, but not really.

Obviously this didn’t work in the long run. This was a routine that was doomed to fail due to the simple fact that it wasn’t sustainable in the long run for my personal situation. That is what makes any attempt at weight loss a failure or a success; the ability to integrate changes into your life. I wish I had learned that lesson sooner, but at the end of the day it all helped me to realize what was necessary to reach reach my goals and that I didn’t have to lose any sleep over it.

Thursday’s for me: weekly developer sprint has been demoed. The upcoming sprint has been planned. Kids still at school. Perfect moment to get that run in after a busy week and get rid of any work frustrations I might have.

Check it out! I'm stepping into the world YouTube! Using it as a platform to talk about and share my experiences in weight loss. I may not be a nutritionist or a fitness instructor. But I lost more than 30kg and did so while working a full time desk job and being a full time dad.

I achieved my fitness goals (thus far) by not just such working hard but by working smart and through trial and error. I found a balance and I fundamentally changed my perception of food and fitness. If you're like me and you're struggled with finding the time or the motivation, or you simply can't make heads or tails out of the vast amounts of information from all the experts then you're not alone.
