Sharing lots of actionable resources/information for parents who want their kids to learn and truly be stellar ๐
today we did a little design thinking with one of my students. What will you be doing with your kids this weekend?
Not a parent but I can relate, ๐. Kids can really be fun and overwhelming at the same time.
Additional help for teen/preteen parents. Know anyone who needs to see this? Help them see this post

Secondly reason, โthank you for the mentorshipโ really stood out for me coming from a person who doesnโt mince words. It confirms to me that I was the kind of the influence I set out to be.
Teaching goes beyond teaching, you always have to remember how your actions and inactions are shaping the future, shaping the world not just theirs but everyoneโs. You are moulding lives, destines, equipping people who will either create solutions to the worlds pressing problems or become liabilites / vices. Never a job to be taken lightly.
I am grateful for the opportunities I have had so far to impact people and I am really excited about the work we are doing to scale(and improve) this impact. More to come!
I really need to learn to write shorter posts๐
My Resevoir engineering lecturer, Engineer Mukhtar who seemed to always have the interest of students at heart, loved and understood the course he took us, had industry and academic knowledge, excellent communication skills, stole the charisma of the whole faculty and had a bucket of life lessons he seamlessly interwove into his lectures. This course had formulas that covered about the quarter of an A4 page each, however we never really needed to cram. if you had some basic maths/physics knowledge you could naturally and effortlessly derive them. His classes were the type you never wanted to miss, no attendance o! but, you don really miss if you no show.
To top everything, this man offered a prize for the position of best performing student in his course, 10k ngn in 2013 (fun fact: most of us scored A's but senate had to downgraded the result).
At the same time I remembered the not so good teachers (to put it lightly). I shuddered at the thought that one of my students would someday remember me in that light and it was instantly clear what my assignment was.
I saw my self in these kids. The bright ones, the struggling ones, the gifted one, the negatively labelled ones, the popular ones etc each one represented me at different points in my life and it was easy for me to ascertain who I needed to be for each child per time (plus i never had a large class; always

I was a chemical engineering graduate you see, teaching was never the plan . Yes building an innovative monstrous thriving company was definitely in the books for me but just not immediately.
Like the lot of us, we eyed the multinationals of the oil industry or smfng similar (hellooo!!!...no suprise here that was the root of our motivation and perhaps because we had become real good in maths, f/maths and physics).
But you see, when I found myself teaching, I knew it wasnโt indefinite and if I was to be a teacher even for a day, I wanted to be like some of the amazing teachers I was forever grateful for. Teachers like :
My primary 3 teacher who unlike most others had no favorites, was kind, fun, scarcely used a whip and converted some long lists that we had to learn into very memorable songs (songs I still sing till this day).
My SS1 Mathematics/Furthermaths teacher, Mallam Hassan. Who made us understand through practice that maths is the easiest subject there is; you only need more and consistent practice (in a class of over 40 students no one failed WAEC and trust me there was no โexpoโ we didnโt need it)
My ss1 physics teacher Mr Nurudeen Babatunde who destroyed any preconceived fears we had of physics and taught us many important skills in the process; skills like : conducting research, working in teams, reading big text books, making presentations, compiling reports and performing physics experiments.
This man was young, vibrant and thorough. He carried out his assignment like the most important people were watching and assessing his every performance. ( He later got employed as an engineer with one of the oil multinationals in the south of Nigeria. When he came visiting we asked, โsir what did you study in schoolโ he said โchemical engineeringโ and that was how chem eng replaced โMedicine and surgeryโ on my jamb form) and...

HOW MANY PARENTS ARE GETTING IT SOOO WRONG.
Being a teacher could easily be one of the most humbling yet challenging jobs to do.
Parents would many times have a fixed ideal of what a good academic performance of their child should be, it could be A In mathematics, certain reading, writing or spelling proficiency, reciting times tables up to the 24th multiple or the holy Grail: coming 1st in class.
And when this doesn't happen... I've seen many parents resort to applying any technique they feel would produce the desired results. Many of which end up being counter-productive in the short and long term.
Methods that Unduly use fear as a tool for 'motivating' the Child to perform better, work at times And parents couldn't be happier. but what they many times fail to see is the unintended long term consequences of their actions.
Here is what I mean. Things are rapidly changing and some of the areas these parents are keenly focusing on may be grossly irrelevant in years to come. No one can state with pin point accuracy exactly which jobs this kids will do in future.
However, Some really important things we can do for them is:
โ
Employ methods in their learning process, that help them develop a love for learning so they become life long learners .
โ
Never let their performance in certain aspects of academic pursuit spillover to other aspects and erode their self esteem. So that they never give up on themselves.
โ
Help them to learn to cooperate and work in teams and communicate in ways that get sustainable results.
โ
Don't praise them but praise the efforts and actions that led to any progress, this way they pickup such actions as life skills and it gets constantly repeated. No entitlement mentality, simply the knowledge that persistence in 'x' actions can produce 'x' results.
โ
Expose them early enough to different avenues for learning new relevant skills and proficiencies
โ
Give them age appropriate responsibilities and monitor if they follow through.
โ
Monitor their attitude to work, challenges and setbacks and use them as opportunities to teach them (CONTINUED IN COMMENTS)
Been a minute.
Happy new year.
I have a question, 'You People' who are able to have functional and progressive lives while having an active social media presence, how do you guys do it?
Because, if I had 1liter of 'fuel' for every time I have said 'ok, this it! we are going in, fully active ' and still didn't do it, i'd be the main person hoarding all the fuel at this point๐.
But if there's anything 2020 till this point has taught me, it is the importance of sensibly(emphasis on sensibly) documenting a good part of your work and life in the public eye and social media is without a doubt one of the best ways of doing just that๐ฏ
SM is also a very potent means of storing data. Over the years I've lost so many pictures, files and other data due to changing phones et al .ย

.Ive been working in 'people development' for about 7 years now.
๐Class room teaching

๐ Community development (back to school).
And As I come very close to ending active teaching to pick a role that can impact people on scale I believe it is important to document these days/months here and even share things from my past experiences.ย
It's really not for everyone but I know a lot of people will benefit from it especially if you have kids that are still schooling.
I am not sure of the format that would be most helpful to people but I think the first step is committing to doing it. which is why I am writing this post๐. If you don't see me here before the close any day please know that I am 'hoarding our fuel' and you are free to demand justice by asking me what's up.
PS. Last year September we had our yearly back to school project ๐พ huge success everyone who contributed was informed in detail on how everything was conducted(we've even received a contribution towards this year's project) but until now I didn't see reason to share that here . I'll do that real soon.

This was us in 2019. Most of were young people who didn't even have jobs. ๐ฅด
All we knew was that we saw something we weren't comfortable about and we wanted to do something about it. And that was what we did.
I am inviting YOU to join us between now and 2nd of October 2021. To see how we can support children who can't afford learning materials๐โ๏ธ.
Just say hi and I'd do a follow-up.
God bless you and thank you in advance.
If after this one minute, you feel you wasted your time I'll reimburse your data ๐ฏ x 2.
BIG OOOPS!
After months of research, development, meetings, and planning. We were negotiating terms with facilitators and were getting set for an intensive 8week marketing campaign when parts of the country started going into lockdown.๐
The logical thing was to switch this to an online session as is the norm in these times but for it just wouldn't work and this is why:
I've attended a number of offline and online events which have helped shape me greatly but there's just this quality an offline workshop gives that can't be duplicated.
The environment, the concentration, the human interaction, the feedback, the hands-on effect... Are all things which come together to create a transforming experience.(This is the goal of every workshop).
I've had my fair share of what I ordered vs what got delivered when it comes to purchasing trainings and during those times I told myself when the tables are turned I want to do right by participants.
One way I believe that can be done is by removing every obstacle in the way of learning through a physical session where everyone can express themselves better.
I still look forward to convening this physical workshop when all this is over, especially because it was a workshop for me to learn from the awesome facilitators๐ฅ we were bringing in ๐...I am only a convener.
But until then we must search for other ways to serve and impact this world.
Image: me videoing the printed proposed plan for the workshop to share with my accountability group members.
The workshop was scheduled to hold from 2nd-3rd May 2020 and be followed by a 30days virtual support which would have ended today 3rd June 2020โค๏ธ
CHANGE THE ROUTE NOT NECESSARILY THE DESTINATION
In 2016 I was fresh out of the NYSC scheme and my mind was pregnant with ideas, you could say the 'ginger' was in excess. I was set to sieze greatness or so I thought ๐.
One of my favorite pastimes has always been imagining and processing different ways of harnessing opportunities from problems.
I'd be disposing trash and be wondering why I hadn't hithetro heard of any initiatives in my part of the country.
I see loop holes in our education system and my mind starts thinking up ways of creating solutions that will at least serve as a buffer.
I'd look for certain services in my area and when I can't find them, I'd starting imagining how beautiful an effective solution would be.
Being plagued by these thoughts daily made me to really start to think๐ค๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ ' is there a way of getting all these things done?'
Alas, a seed of thought I had always had sprung...
One man can't do it all but an army of good heads will take these 'idea seeds' and birth things beyond any man's wildest imagination.
This reinforced a major belief I had always had '(true) EDUCATION can change the world'
(This is why I encourage education in any capacity I can.)
After NYSC I spent a year plus chasing grants to fund an education product I believed would 'change the world' I still do.
When answers weren't forthcoming I launched into paid employment with an exit strategy.
After two years, I had raised some capital for a business (not the education product though) and had also been learning the ropes and experimenting with business on the side, all this while .
This business was a means goal. With this, I believed I could at least get some level of financial stability while I buy more time to chase my main goal.
What has this whole experience taught me ?
๐there are inumerable approaches to solving a particular problem.
๐flexibility is key, when you seem to hit stalemate, sit determined with that challenge and employ an open mind.
๐ Always think in terms of the solution not products and solid products will follow.
Now, The much acclaimed product I talked about wasn't launched in it's previous form but has since been broken down into several solutions and one of them is Quantum leap Nation a platform for helping young people successfully transition from conventional education to professions of their choice. Here our motivation is that,The quickest way to solve our many problems is by effectively empowering many people to do it.
So, If you've tried all you can yet the answers are as shy as an elusive maiden then think in terms of solutions and watch as she chases you on every turn.
Hi, I am Ajoke Flora Aregbeyen I am the team lead of Quantumleap and I am crazy enough to think education can change the worldโค๏ธ.
On Saturday 11th January 2020 we held the first edition of Growth hacking round tables and it was on goal-setting/Visionboarding.
Feedback from participants have been overwhelming! We have since moved all participants to the online follow-up and Accountability group and we are confident of the successes that will come out of this. many thanks to trainers who took out time from their schedule to do this with me. Thank you Nina Mbah, thank you Ane Itodo. Season 1.2 coming up in April anticipate!!!
' There is no 'former' in my bio...'
That statement as short as it was, really sunk deeply when I read it as Dr Joe Abah's tweet. Given his high social standing and numerous achievements... It moved me greatly.
People most times use the statement ' we are not defined by our past' only when the past is not favourable.
That is big time disservice to the listeners because that singular action reduces the powerful saying to a mere half truth!
If we must forget the ills of the past because ' we are not defined by our past' then why cling so tightly to our achievements since they are also constituents of our past?.
The Nugget he shared that day wasn't new to me but coming from him, it made me really think...๐ค๐ญ
I then resolved to always intentionally 'castoff' the substance of my achievements and travel time with only the experience gained. I have also learnt to only bring them up when needed for assistance and prevent it from filling me with 'hot air' and killing my learning curve.
MAY OUR BEST WORKS NEVER BE DONE IN OUR YESTERDAYS!
Every one around may seems to have achieved the universe in 2019, great businesses, enviable jobs, businesses, properties, cars, dream life partners, marriage, children, awards... But someone out there may still be thinking he/she got nothing in 2019... I know this because she used to be me.
If this is you, Think again, please think! you did something, you did good. You Just seem to be viewing it upside down.
Many achievements of others seem high and lofty only because of the manner in which they are presented.
Make an undiluted effort in viewing you and your achievements in the best possible light. It will evoke in you the spirit of gratitude, launch you to greater things, give you confidence to sell your self and enable you to help others too...but always remember ๐งโ ๏ธ๐ง๐งall you are trying to highlight is the experience and competence gained not the substance.
If you don't have this mindset you'll be stuck in the glories of your past while every other person makes headway, you become a 'has been' early on in life.
.. Avoid hot air in your system, it is worse than a plague.
You will thank you for it and the universe will thank you too!

HAPPY NEW YEAR
MAY OUR BEST WORKS NEVER BE DONE IN OUR YESTERDAYS
2019 was the year I left a job I had psychologically outgrown.
Launched two growing and successful businesses.
Grew my production capacity at Dichi Digitalchicken by 6 times
Landed my first bulk deal within a month of launching The Branding Fairy
Convened a social impact project that equipped well over 56 children in 6states plus (total) with back to school supplies.
Kicked frequent illness to the curb with exercise and a new health conscious lifestyle.
I hadn't travelled for 4years even though I had always wished to...I did so 3times in 2019
Played a key role in the fund raising committee at my church
Met a number of my role models (John Obidi, Nelly Abogu of naija brandchick, Temi ajibewa of millionaire house wife)
Got up many times after I hit major setbacks.
I wish I could say it was just a phenomenal method of goal setting but the truth is and believe he is blessing all that I am working to do this year.
But as Dr Joe Abah once tweeted, 'there is no 'former' in my bio...'
We are not defined by our past no matter how glorious or dire they may seem.
I am moving on and leaving them behind but not forgetting to carry with me the experienced gained.
2020 we are growing
We are winning.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Hey Good morning๐๐
a friend asked me this question and it got me wondering how many people need the answers too...so I did this short explainer post.
WHAT IS A VISION BOARD, IS IT REALLY FOR YOU?
The craze for vision boards keeps rising every year and does not seem like it will be dwindling anytime soon.
A lot people believe it is because of many public figures/celebrities like Oprah Winfrey who have endorsed it by testifying of how much it works and have virtually gone on to become vision board ambassadors.
While others believe that the rapid popularity of the tool due to the fact that more people are getting to know what vision boards are, the proper way of creating them and how to effectively use them to get your desired results.
So....
What is a vision board?
A vision board is a visual tool (most vision boards can be seen and touched) which you use to keep your goals in front of your mind all year long while enabling on your concious and sub-concious mind to constantly create ways of bringing your goals to reality.
The power and 'magic' behind a vision board is not in how aesthetically appealing the board is (even though this is cool) but in the power of the process used in the pre-canvas stage(the stage before you lay out everything on the board).
The pre-canvas stage can be summarised as the point where you clarify and set your winning goals and map out an actionable strategy for its achievement.
Without goals we wander through life wondering how every one seems to be getting their 'lucky big break' and achieving only little of our enormous potential.
Having goals and an actionable plan can easily raise our odds for success by 10X and a vision board propels us to stay focused and motivated using the power of visuals which is 60,000 times more powerful that just text (no that wasn't a typo;yep, sixty thousand times)
I am creating a FREE Vision boarding checklist for people who due to one reason or the other won't be able to attend our vision boarding session in January or buy my book
'GROWTH HACKING WITH VISION BOARDS'. So that you can get a guide on how to create a good vision board on your own using the if you will like to receive this, just send me your e-mail address and I'll mail it to you as soon as it is ready.
We must all win together in 20/20
Get 20/20 ready.

It takes more than setting and identifying your goals, you need a verified process โ๏ธ to bring these goals to fruition.
If this is you or you simply want more in the coming year click the following link https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2833982919965735&id=100000621643373
It's human to sometimes feel something when our peers get ahead of us...but what you do with that emotion is what truly matters...
Imagine if the tables were turned, how would want your friends to feel for you?
Be genuinely happy for people, be inspired by their successes, remember your purpose (it is strong, it is beautiful and it will come to pass) then FORGE ON.
You don't need bad blood for where you are going. That these things are happening is only a testament that God is in your neighborhood. Do not make the mistake of letting him pass you by because of envy.

This is Bolanle,
Bolanle has been doing some jaw dropping stuff๐ฒ in recent times and it has taken most people by storm because they never 'esperrerit'๐
.
She has peppered them from all angles in 2019, so much that a certain sect of people have been peddling ill news that it is the work of a so called 'blue eye'.
But here is what they don't know...
-------------------------------------------------------------
Behind those gorgeous shades, Fab lashes and perfectly laid braids is a girl who has worked hard and smart too!
Bolanle used to let life happen to her but now, she happens to life.
She moved from no goals at all to setting goals that will make the average girl turn and shout 'shuuuuu?!'.
Bolanle learnt the importance of: relationships.
How to use time rightly.
Positioning and branding.
Managing money
How to sell VALUE and a host of other things.
But One of her biggest 'aha!' moments was when she discovered the the tool called a vision board and how to use it to hack her daunting goals. She created one the right way and the transformation was ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
This happened because Bolanle dared to dream and had the discipline to fall through. Challenges came but the lady had already decided so there was no turning back. she persevered and so she triumphed.
Where is Bolanle now? She is probably somewhere in those inspiring co-working spaces doing what works... Carefully handpicking the next chapter of her life with clarity and purpose, in essence... SHE IS VISION BOARDING for 2020.
Be like Bolanle, do not take lightly the act of writing down your goals, creating a strategy/an action plan, the importance of relationships and of course make sure you CREATE YOUR WINNING VISION BOARD.

My friend has been trying to lose some weight. So she is dieting, exercising and doing all those things the experts say is sure to give the expected results.
Last weekend I was at her house, I really can't remember what I opened her fridge to fetch but I sure do remember how shocked I was when I did open the fridge.
You know that kind of freezing to the bone marrow kind of shock that plants you to one position like a tree, yeah that type.
What did I find? 5 1-litre buckets of ice cream all in different flavours and several other things that shouted anti-weight loss.
Now get it, I love my friend, fats and all and embarking on this weightloss journey was totally her idea. All I was supposed to do was to cheer and encourage her.
So being the supportive friend that I am I decided to do a little poking
Me: 'Mary are you renting your fridge space to someone else?'
Mary: no, why do you ask?
Me: I saw calories the size of an elephant and the dinosaur combined in your fridge.
Mary:/laughs/ you know me na, I have a very strong will power, I won't touch any of those unless on my cheat days which happens to be once a week. I am hell Bent on losing weight this time and no ice cream can stop me.
๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ
I went ๐คฏ for a second, was I to laugh hystericaly or flog this girl ?
but in split seconds my brain quickly informed me that all those high intensity workouts might have been playing a number on her brain or perhaps it was due to long hours of standing in the sun.
THAT BROUGHT US TO THE DEBATE OFF WILL POWER OVER ENVIRONMENT.
Which is easier?
Trying to lose weight while keeping so much calories-laden food nearby then telling yourself that you will develop the willpower to overcome the temptation.
OR
Eliminating all calorie inducing food from your environment and surrounding yourself with only delicious but healthy foods.
I think the sun must have hit my friend harder than I thought because she still refused to get rid of the ice cream, anyways I love her to bits and for every growth transforming journey she's going to embark on I'll be here for her.
So the question for you here is this?
What type of environment are you conciously creating for yourself?
always remember that for every goal you set for yourself, environment is more powerful than willpower.
This works not only for weight loss but for every goal you set your self to achieve. To see as quickly as possible you need to consciously always cultivate the right environment.
This environment could be: the friends you surround yourself with, the people you intentionally decided to cut off from, the trainings you attend, books you read, the project you get involved in etc
As we move into the new year do not take lightly the kind of environment you put yourself in.
--------------------------------
Join Me and several others as we create the right environment for ourselves in the coming year click here for details https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2833982919965735&id=100000621643373

Zozibini Tunzi becomes First black woman to win Miss Universe In ...
She made history today and left some clues in the tracks.
Did you see?
1. Her confidence was 100% authentic not outwardly alone (hair, dress and carriage) but also in the conviction with which she Expressed her ideas.
2. Her Courage to disrupt, knowing what to disrupt and how to disrupt.
3. Banked in on global trends when the mattered (feminism and racial inclusion)
Lessons:
* know when to reinvent the wheel or be a fast follower.
* At great levels your authenticity will come under testing, if it is surface/cosmetic it will wipe off but if it is authentic (from the inside-out), it will shine through.
* True confidence comes from a place of knowledge of who you are, what you are doing and your capabilities.
