And what makes us that is that we don’t believe in restrictions or rules when it comes to giving. If you need all the pies we’ll give you all the pies, if you just want a yarn for a while, we’ll listen, if you just need a smile and hug we’ll give that with all our heart.

We believe in doing and giving all we can when it’s needed, no judgement, just mates helping mates.

We had a very special guest volunteer join us. Patricia joined us all the way from Australia on her recent holiday here. Patricia is Chris’ mum and Elliott’s nanna so we had 3 generations of family helping us out!

Patricia spread kindness, chatted with people and most of all, gave out a whole lot of mateship! She told Shayne at the end that she didn’t imagine the actual reality of what she saw and she was honored to help out.

It’s our birthday! 🥳 The Mateship Foundation turns 1 year old today!

In 2018 two unlikely strangers, Shayne and Jay Jay got together and started handing out food and supplies to the people at Skid Row. They did this all by grassroots to simply spread kindness and mateship. The Aussie expat community saw what they were doing and people started donating to their mission.

Last year they decided to formalize their efforts and they created The Mateship Foundation.

Since then, they have had hundreds of volunteers join them, fed thousands of people but most of all, they have spread mateship across the USA.

So hip hip hooray to us!! 🥳🥳🥳

This lady has been on the streets, in the same spot as long as I can remember. I’ve spoken to her a few times and unfortunately her addiction separated her from her family.

Liani has been helping us for years and is a mother to two children.
