With coffee prices rising due to stricter European deforestation regulations and global supply chain issues, the circular economy offers more than just sustainability. At Preloved Coffee, we’ve initiated a model that transforms spent coffee grounds into valuable biomaterials for industries such as cosmetics, construction, and packaging. This approach reduces waste and helps companies combat inflation pressure from raw materials, offering economic benefits alongside environmental contributions. We joined forces with the New Materials and Processes research group at Turku University of Applied Sciences. Together, we’re dedicated to fostering collaboration that builds solid teams, validates technology and unique business potentials of spent coffee grounds, and secures future funding.

Did you know that each Finn consumes an average of 12 kg of coffee per year? That’s a whopping 66 million kg of coffee annually! ☕ But here’s the twist: the annual carbon emissions from this coffee consumption are approximately 3.96 million kg CO2, equivalent to 3,960 metric tonnes CO2. 🌍💚

With Kiran’s expertise, we’re paving the way for a circular coffee industry, digital twins of cafes via integrating precise data on carbon taxation and offsetting for a sustainable future! 🔄
