Congratulations to Senator State Senator Celina Villanueva!

Today I furthered my fight to allow gender-neutral, multi-occupancy restrooms to be installed in private and public businesses. House Bill 1286 is about inclusivity – for not just the LGBTQ community, but for people with disabilities, older adults and families with young children. As it passed in the Senate today, I can say that this a monumental step forward toward making Illinois the most inclusive state in the nation.

Opportunities … today we passed HB3751 that would allow DACA individuals apply to potentially become police officers. I was joined by Blue Island Police Department Chief Farr and Officer Soto Rodriguez, first Latina DACA officer, to testify on the obstacles both had to face to just give individuals an opportunity to follow their dreams.

Today we stood together to respond to the Governor’s State of the State address!

As the co-chair of The Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus I had the honor of addressing the media and my constituents following the governor's budget address to make sure that Latino communities in Illinois are properly represented all across the state. There is a reason why we talk about Health Equity, Public Safety, Immigrants Rights, Language Access Rights, Economic Justice, Education Equity, Economic Equity, and Latinx Representation because being Latino, Latinx, Latina, and latine is not just a thing it is everything!
