"Global Network Initiative" is an NGO, IT Company established by a group of six eleventh-grade students from St. Agnes.

When we say "privacy," we mean that there is something exceedingly private about it. Something we believe others should not know or that we do not want them to know. But why is it so? Why are individuals so hesitant to tell everyone everything about themselves?
The concept of data privacy is similar to that of a city gate. If people keep it open while also guarding it, the city will thrive and will also be secured. This is also true in terms of privacy. If we preserve our privacy correctly, our city will be in order and people will live in peace. To achieve such, I believe that this will only be effective if everyone in the community works as a whole. So,
It is our responsibility to check for our own information. We should be cautious about the information we provide and the links we browse on the internet. We should protect our personal information as it is one of our responsibilities.

An important reason why privacy matters is not having to explain or justify oneself. We may do a lot of things which, if judged from afar by others lacking complete knowledge or understanding, may seem odd or embarrassing or worse.
One's privacy is important for this serves as an individual's right. Personal data information of every person must be protected by every platform that includes such data from public exposures. Every person must learn that data privacy is a human right and that the government plays a role in the protection of each individual's data privacy. Thus, as an individual, it's important to have knowledge about the Data Privacy Act and realize that data security is essential to protect and maintain one's data privacy. With the Internet, there is no longer any such thing as privacy. I believe that as technology advances, the idea of "privacy" will become increasingly distorted and obliterated. Because privacy is linked to many dimensions of human dignity and freedom of expression, it is a requirement in our existence. Privacy is extremely important since it helps us to feel protected, comfortable, and in control.

Looks like a bit too late to "fix things now, yet we need to establish clearer rules and higher standards of protection for future generations. Our planet is still developing and it is now mostly depending on technology. We should all be familiar with our rights and liberties. Since data privacy is such a prevalent issue, many government organizations and corporations spend millions of dollars each year to help protect their data. The average user/consumer probably doesn't have that kind of money to spend, however, there are some inexpensive steps that they can take to help protect their data.
