Thinking about going back to school? The VFW Auxiliary can help!
The VFW Auxiliary is pleased to present Continuing Education scholarships to assist members who wish to further their education by pursuing a college degree or a career direction at a vocational/technical school. ONLY the spouse, son and daughter of a member are also eligible to apply.
Four Continuing Education scholarships are awarded each Program Year: one per Conference.
Learn more about this scholarship here: https://vfwauxiliary.org/scholarships/continuing-education/
Note: All applicants must be at least 21 years of age by date of submission.
The VFW’s Unmet Needs program is here to help America's active-duty service members (to include activated Guard/Reserve members) and their families who have run into unexpected financial difficulties because of deployment or other military-related activity or injury. The program provides financial assistance up to $2,500 to assist daily necessities in the form of a grant – not a loan – so no repayment is required. To further ease the burden, we pay the creditor(s) directly.
For additional information, and to see if you or someone you know qualifies for a grant through the Unmet Needs program, please review the Unmet Needs eligibility criteria: https://www.vfw.org/assistance/financial-grants

Have you heard of SWAP?
SWAP was an initiative started in 2018 that encouraged members to Share Wonderful Auxiliary Projects. It works when an Auxiliary has had a great idea for a project, Program, event, parade float, membership recruitment or promotion and decides to document and share that idea with other Auxiliaries, which then take those ideas and run with them!
If you have participated in an Auxiliary SWAP or have an idea that may benefit other Auxiliaries, send an email to [email protected] with the subject line Auxiliary SWAP. Please include a description of the project, the date(s), 1-3 photographs, your Auxiliary number and, if applicable, the number of the Auxiliary you got your SWAP idea from!
When you share your Auxiliary’s ideas and another Auxiliary runs with them, that’s a successful SWAP!

One of National Americanism Ambassador and Patriotic Instructor Linda Roloff’s goals this year is to impart to both members and the general public the message that "POW-MIA" should be "Prisoner of War/Missing in Action.” She is doing this through her "More Than Letters" campaign.

Are you familiar with Auxiliary Outreach?
This Program involves the partnering of your Auxiliary with another organization in order to show Auxiliary presence locally while building and strengthening ties in your community.
This Program is not for donations or individual volunteerism; it involves Auxiliary members working together alongside the organization with whom you voted to partner. Show your Auxiliary pride by wearing clothing or gear (ex: uniform shirt, hat, badge, etc.) and have fun making new friends through volunteerism!
If your Auxiliary has participated in an Auxiliary Outreach program or event recently, we would love to see pictures. Email us at [email protected] with the subject line Outreach. We love showcasing our !

SNAP: Stop Now, Ask Permission
National Historian and Media Relations Ambassador Diana Morris encourages all members to “SNAP” as they take and post pictures this year. That stands for “Stop Now, Ask Permission.”
Advice from Morris includes:
1. Print photo releases from the MALTA Member Resources page to protect yourself and the person you are photographing, especially children
2. Be aware of who/what you are photographing and be kind
3. Connect with the subject and the emotion – don’t be a paparazzi
On other words, think before you SNAP!

The VFW Auxiliary offers cancer grants to members who are battling cancer.
Eligibility requirements:
• Applicant must be a member of the VFW Auxiliary for one (1) full year.
• Current dues must be paid before applying for a cancer grant.
• After twelve (12) months have passed from date of diagnosis or last treatment, application will not be accepted.
• A member is allowed two (2) grants during lifetime. Twelve (12) months must elapse between new diagnosis and/or treatment from date of first grant for a second application to be considered. Continuous treatment which lasts beyond the twelve (12) month period will qualify for a second grant.
• Application will be rejected if member has been deceased for longer than 30 days.
The grant amount is currently $550.00 and funds are paid directly to the member or, in the case of a deceased member, to their estate. Funds are dispersed 2-4 weeks following the acceptance and approval of the completed and signed application. Please read the instructions carefully before submitting an application. The most common reason an application is denied is due to missing information from either the member or physician.
