A swimming pool in … an NFL stadium? Welcome to U.S. Olympic trials In a bold, grandiose ploy to expand the reach of swimming, the 70,000-seat home of the Indianapolis Colts has been transformed from a football field into the world’s biggest aquatic arena.
UIL District 18-5A swim athletes of the meet Marshall Odem FHS and KK LeBlanc FHS.
UIL District 18-5A swim coaches of the meet, Sikkema FHS boys and La Raia Angleton girls.
Several records were broken today by Friendswood High School swimmers at the District 18 5A swim meet at FHS Natatorium, but that was not what I admired most. A senior swimming in the prelimary 100 yard free style, perhaps swimming his last race in his home pool, improved his time by nearly 2 seconds, from 56:24 to 54:44 seconds. What an achievement! You can see his emotional reactions here. Cooper Barden, you are a standout in my book.
Congratulations. Alex Liden signs Letter of Intent. The other athletes are located here. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.3574188296151195&type=3
There are no UIL State 5A Finals photos. I did not have on deck photography credential.
Thank you parents for the big surprise! I combined the swim and the awards photos because they captivated the enthusiasm of all swimmers in this awesome meet. You guys were loud and supportive of each other, and to let the other teams, referees, and the announcer know who was the best. Good luck to all swimmers at State!
