After the excellent organization of the 4th LTTA in Szkoła Podstawowa nr 7 im. Janusza Korczaka w Giżycko in Poland in October 2023, the 5th LTTA of the project followed in Osnovna škola Darda, in Croatia from 8th to 12th April. The organization was flawless and the objectives of the program were fully achieved. The agenda included: Visit to Geoinfo Center Voćin, Visit to Jankovac Forest Park, Visit to Regional Scientific Center of Pannonian Croatia, Visit to Vučedol Culture Museum, Visit The Cultural and Scientific Center "Milutin Milanković ", Visit to Tikveš Center for Presentation and Education. Workshops for teachers and students: Multiplication on the circle, Fly me to the Moon, Chemistry of Food Taste and Odor, Byte bracelet, A fun walk in the forest, Explore the nature, Meteorology through experiments and models, Garden of chemistry. Lecture for teachers: Embrace, Empower, Excel: Positive psychology strategies for student resilience and emotional wellness from prof. dr. sc. Silvija Rucevic, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Osijek.

Today we celebrate the Day of approximation of the number π (Pi)!🥧🔄

The date 7/22 was chosen because of the simplest fractional approximation of the number Pi, which is 22/7, or in decimal notation 3.142857142857…, where the six digits 142857 are repeated infinitely. This value is not completely accurate, but provides sufficient precision for many practical purposes.

The number Pi is an irrational number, which means that it has an infinite number of non-repeating decimals and is approximately 3.1415926…. That's why even the supercomputer that mapped the Pi to 31.4 trillion decimals has not found, nor will it ever find, the last decimal or a pattern that repeats itself to the end.

Pi is ubiquitous in mathematics, physics, engineering and statistics. From defining the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter to describing waves, Pi is at the heart of many of the formulas that shape our world. 🧮

Today is an ideal day to explore and appreciate the deeply rooted presence of the number Pi in our world. Do you have a favorite fact or anecdote about the number Pi?🤔
