Summer School Enrollment Beginning Now

The Willow Springs School District is planning at this time to offer a seated summer school for all students in grades K-8 and credit recovery for high school students in grades 10-12 beginning July 6th and running until July 31st. The grade levels are based on what grade the students will be in for the 2020-21 school year. However, K-8 students will be taught by the same grade level teacher they had this past year.

It is extremely important that students enroll and attend the July summer school. Summer school will be from 8:00 am to 3:15 pm five days per week. Breakfasts and lunches will be served. Selected high school students will be contacted directly about credit recovery opportunities. Parents of K-8 students can enroll their students for the July seated summer school online by going to the parent portal at sis.willowbears.com. On-site enrollment will take place at the elementary school office on Monday and Tuesday, June 8-9, from 9 am to 1 pm.

Please plan to enroll and have your child attend summer school in July as it will make for a better start for them as we enter the next school year.

Tomorrow is the last day to pick up locker contents at the middle school. We’ll be handing them out from 8-12:30 at the door with the buzzer.

27/04/2020

Middle school pickups went great today—and we’ll be there for the rest of the week from 8:00-12:30 with locker contents and new instructional packets for those who need them. Please bring back any textbooks and library books you may have. We also have lost and found items if your student is missing something. Spring pictures still have not been delivered for the middle school or high school, but we’re trying to find out when they will be here. We’ll let you know as soon as we do. Thank you to all our parents for your support and patience during this time!

26/04/2020

Don’t forget to bring back any library and textbooks that your students have when you pick up their belongings and instructional packets this week!
Also, as of last Friday, spring pictures for the middle and high schools still had not arrived. We will contact parents when we receive them.

Today is Administrative Professionals day, and we want our very own Stacey Darnell to know how much everyone in our building appreciates all she does for us! Have a great day, Miss Stacey!

A reminder that today (Wednesday, 4/22) is the last day to pick up Round 2 instructional packets. They will be available at the elementary from 11:00-12:30. Order your Round 3 (the final round) packets now by emailing [email protected] or calling (417) 469-3211. These will be available beginning Monday, 4/27, at the middle school during pickup hours for locker contents.

21/04/2020

The following is the schedule for pickups for locker contents and the last round of instructional packets (Round 3) for middle school students:
Monday, 4/27: 8th grade (and younger siblings), 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Tuesday, 4/28: 7th grade (and younger siblings), 8:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Wednesday, 4/29: 6th grade (and younger siblings), 8:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Thursday, 4/30: 5th grade, 8:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Friday, 5/1: All grades, 8:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
If you cannot come on the day for your student's grade, you can come on another day--we will not turn you away--but we do ask for everyone's patience since we are limiting the number of staff who will be helping with this. We expect Monday to be a busy day, as it is also a meal distribution day. If you are only picking up locker contents and packets and NOT meals, if you could come before 11:00 a.m. or after 12:30 p.m., that will help lower the number of people waiting.
We want to work with you to get your student's belongings back and to provide instructional materials. Please let us know if you need assistance, and we will do what we can to help.
As always, thank you for your support during this time.

20/04/2020

Willow Springs Schools

I know everyone has lots of questions about grades, lockers, pictures, and what this means for next year. Watch your email and this page and we’ll continue to update you as information is available.

By order of the Governor, schools are closed the remainder of the school year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the distribution of meals, online learning resources and hard copy packets for Willow Springs students will continue. Monday, April 13, 2020 will be the second distribution of online learning resources and hard copy learning packets. The printed packets will be available between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Middle school and elementary school packets will be available at the elementary school. High school packets will be available at the high school. High school packets need to be requested ahead of time either by calling or emailing the high school. Even though school is closed for the year, the Willow Springs school district will continue providing learning resources for students and distribution of meals to children 18 years of age and younger. The meals will continue to be distributed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 pm.

08/04/2020

05/04/2020

Tuesday, April 7, by 11:00 a.m., will be the last day you can order Round 1 instructional materials for your student. This is the original packet that came out when the closure began. Building secretaries will be answering phones from 8:00-11:00 a.m. After 11:00, you can leave a message for the next day. If you need instructional packets, you will need to call by 11:00 a.m. the day prior to meal pickups.

If you need a hard copy of an instructional packet for a middle school student, you MUST CALL THE MIDDLE SCHOOL at (417) 469-3211 ext. 200 no later than 11:00 a.m. THE DAY BEFORE meal pickups.
On Friday, March 27, packets will be available in the pickup line at the elementary from 11-12:30, but you may still pick up packets at the middle school from 8-3 outside of meal pickup times. This will be the last day this will be available at the middle school.
Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to navigate this difficult time.

25/03/2020

Middle school students can now use their school email account to directly communicate with their teachers! This account will only send or receive email to and from other accounts within our school system, and it is monitored by our firewall. Student email addresses are the last two numbers of their graduation year followed by an underscore, then their last name followed by .com. Their password is their Google password that they use at school.
Example for a 5th grader: [email protected].
If there are other students in the same grade with the same last name, they may need to follow their last name with the first initial of their first name (smithj).
All they have to do is go to Gmail and log in.
We hope this makes it easier to stay in touch with teachers until we are all together again!

25/03/2020

I'm going through the many pictures I've taken of our middle schoolers this year because that's the only way I can see their faces--I sure am missing them! I hope all of our students are staying well and working on lessons today!

Over 200 meals distributed today! We will do it again on Wednesday from 11:00-12:30!

Busy distributing meals at the elementary school. Close to 200 meals handed out this morning. Back here on Wednesday. Times on Wednesday for meal and packet distribution will be 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.

23/03/2020

We served lots of student meals during meal pickup today! We will do it again on Wednesday, but the hours will be from 11:00 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. We will also have student packets ready to pick up at that time. If students live within walking distance, of school, they can come get meals--they do not have to have a parent with them.
If your middle school student needs hard copies of work, call (417) 469-3211 ext. 200 by Tuesday at noon so we can have it ready for Wednesday pickup. If you can't pick up during the food service time, come to the main door of the middlle school and ring the buzzer. Someone will be available from 8:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. This will begin on Wednesday, after meal service concludes at 12:30.
