Basha High School Guard

Join us this Saturday, April 8th at Eastmark High School to celebrate the 2023 winter season before we leave for WGI World Championships!
We will be joined by Eastmark High School, Queen Creek High School, Highland High School, Basha High School, and Higley High School.
Beginning at 12pm to 3pm Oasis will be having an open rehearsal followed by a Q&A session with the staff and members. Performances will begin at 4pm!
Free admission, but donations are greatly appreciated!

This weeks senior spotlight is !

what do you plan to do after graduation?

“Go to U of A and get a degree in criminal justice with the hopes of becoming a forensic scientist. I would love to march Drum Corps and spin Winter with an Independent guard.”

What’s your favorite show you’ve been in?

“Evil Women because I was able to be sassy and my teammates were amazing.”

Why did you join guard?

“I would always watch the guard at football games and their performance sold me.”

What do you like to do outside of guard?

“I love to write and hang out with my friends and family.”

Any words for new members?

“Guard is really hard but it’s worth it when you are in the middle of a competition and realize you don’t want to be anywhere else with anyone else because this is your family and yall are creating something amazing together.”

This weeks senior spotlight is Sophia!
Sophia is planning on attending U of A in the fall.

While being in guard Sophias favorite show has been Evil Woman. Sophia joined guard originally because her sister was a part of marching band and her parents wanted her to be involved too. She was an orchestra kid, so they suggested she try colorguard and she did it for two years at Santan Junior High before coming to Basha and has loved it ever since!

Her favorite memory was her freshman year winter season trip to Temecula, CA for a competition. It was so much fun being around everyone and being in a new exciting environment, and they had a lot of laughs and fun memories rooming together.

When she has time, she likes to draw or play video games. If she’s with friends, she likes to go get boba or coffee and go shopping.

This weeks senior spotlight is Jesse!
Jesse is planning on attending UCLA in the fall and majoring in Neuroscience.

While being in guard her favorite show has been Guide Me Home. Jesse was originally going to play flute in the marching band but decided to go to guard auditions last minute and just fell in love. He favorite memories have been going out with friends after competitions and games and spending time with her favorite people.

Outside of guard Jesse like to drink a lot of boba and travel.

This weeks senior spotlight is Mckinley!
In the fall Mckinley is planning on going to ASU for early childhood and early childhood special education.

While being in guard Mckinleys favorite show has been Guide me Home. Mckinley joined guard because she wasn’t playing an instrument anymore and her parents wanted her to be in marching band. Mckinleys favorite memory has been the temecula trip.

Outside of guard Mckinley likes to dance and hangout with friends and family.

This weeks senior spotlight is Erin!
In the fall Erin is planning on attending the University Of Arizona.

While being in guard Erins favorite show has been to fall in. Erin originally joined guard because she saw it on the school announcements and thought, “why not?” She even stuck through it into high school to be with her friend and future college roommate sophia who is one of our captains.
Erins favorite memories have been moments when we are all just giggling together at rehearsal and the vibes are just good.

Outside of guard Erin likes to volunteer with a local non-profit, neighbors who care, or settle in with a good book.

Cheesiest joke: A neutron walks into a bar and orders a drink. When he asks the bartender, “How much do I owe you?” the bartender replies, “Oh for you? No charge.”

This weeks senior spotlight is Shayla!
Shayla is planning on going to NAU in the fall!

While being in guard Shaylas favorite show has been “To Fall In”. Shayla joined guard because she didn’t want to play trumpet anymore and he favorite memory has been Band of America Competition!

Outside of guard Shayla like to spend time with her family.

Cheesiest joke: People are always shocked when they find out i’m not a good electrician.

This weeks senior spotlight is Zoë!
In the fall Zoë is planning on going to CGCC.
Zoë’s favorite show has been Guide me home. She originally joined guard in spite of her older brother but she has found new opportunities that made it all worth it. Zoë’s favorite memory from guard is getting ready in the mirror room listening to music and helping people with their makeup.

In her free time Zoë likes to workout, listen to music, and spend time with her friends.

This weeks senior spot light is Alex.
Alex is planning on going to NAU

While being in guard alex’s favorite show has been Evil Women. Alex originally joined guard because he saw someone with a flag bag and thought it would be fun. Alex’s favorite memory from guard was being thrown by the floor when it was windy outside.

During his free time alex enjoys art, writing, reading, and video games!

Cheesiest joke: What has more lives than a cat? A frog because it croaks every night.

The memories we share on this field will never be forgotten. You have put everything into performing, practicing, and growing as humans. You may not be on this field again but you are planting the seeds for the next generation.
