Here is a PSA for anyone who might be currently in a calorie deficit, or interested in one.

The past few weeks I have been FALLING ASLEEP on myself. Trying to watch TV with my husband and my eyes keep closing, to the point I just go to bed and pass out.

Today I have realized that I reduced my calorie intake by another 300cals to 1850. And you know what? It’s too low, for me.

Today I am increasing it to 2050 which still puts me in a 300cal deficit. Sure, my progress might be slower, but that is better than wanting to fall asleep all day long, as well as feeling completely exhausted as if I didn’t get any sleep at all.

So, please take that into consideration for yourself. It shouldn’t be a miserable journey for fat loss.

Xo,
Coach V

Hello!

I’m curious, do you put deadlifts in your back day or leg day? I’ve heard both and wondering what others do. 😊

Normally I have them on leg day but I’m thinking about having it be my first workout on my back/upper body days!

Photos from The Dougherty Gym's post 13/06/2024

As much as I want to get my shape back I was humbled and reminded that I need to take my time in this postpartum phase. It took me a full year after my first to feel back to normal and a full two years after my second… so I intend for it to take a full three years after my last to feel back to normal.

Although I know I feel better at 8m postpartum this time around than the other two times, I need to remind myself that it’s okay to not be 100% myself yet. It does take time. I go back and forth between “I’m ALREADY 8m postpartum!” To “I’m ONLY 8m postpartum”.

Every pregnancy and postpartum journey is different and you can’t compare yourself to someone else’s OR even your own in the past. I know I’ll eventually get there… on my own timeline. 💛

Haven’t been to the gym in 5 days since I’ve been enjoying celebrating my birthday and the baptism of my last born. Been creating memories with family filled with love and food. Today I’ll use the extra energy to kill it on lower body day 🤍

Reaching your goals isn’t a sprint - it’s a marathon, as well as enjoying all the happy memories this life has to offer. Year 34 I’m staying present in my life, loving and appreciating my blessings 🩵

Ladies, remember:

Eating better does not mean eating less.
Smaller does not mean healthier.

This comeback is personal. 👊🏼

7 months postpartum and feeling better than ever expected 🙏🏼

Things I’ve been doing

• Being selfish - making sure I put aside time for myself to workout. (Which is not selfish at all)

• Staying consistent - because I’m being a selfish, I’m more consistent. Lifting 4x a week.

• Creatine & Collagen - taking that combination since I’ve been back in the gym has made a difference that I can’t explain. I just feel… better.

• Following a plan - I got my certification for prenatal and postnatal coaching and I have been following the program. Mostly because I want to experience it myself before I have other women go through it too. And let me tell you… I has made a WORLD of difference. Going slowly, finishing each phase, my core has gotten much stronger, I feel much stronger, and progressing in the direction I want to go.

• Lowering my expectations - I’m not looking for a quick fix. I’m not looking to “bounce back”. I’m not looking to be “back to normal”. I’m just trying to be the best version of myself at every stage. I’m enjoying the process and loving myself along the way.

I’m excited to see where I am in a few more months 🩷

My absolute favorite exercise 🩵

February vs. May 🥰

This year for myself is all about postpartum recovery, with loving myself along the way. 🩵

As much as I want to try and lift as heavy as possible, I know this slow and steady will pay off in the end.

However, like most people, I still like seeing physical results even when I know there are others.

Not the best comparison, but I’ll take it🥰🥰🥰

Because I workout being postpartum, obviously I must be trying to lose the baby weight…

Here’s the truth-

I have abdominal separation so I’m trying to get the gap (actual hole) smaller.

I’m building up my overall core strength (which is not just your stomach).

I’m trying to find myself again.

I’m getting comfortable in my new body.

But in all reality…

It’s no ones business 🤷🏼‍♀️

IT IS HERE!!!💜💜

I am so happy and excited to start my learning for another certification through GGS Academy! I want to be able to help women of all ages, through any stage of life and be the best coach for them. Taking my personal experiences with having a coach as well as studying the material I know I will succeed. I can’t wait to begin! 💜💜

✨Just a reminder ✨

Thin doesn’t mean healthy.
Bigger doesn’t mean unhealthy.

Once again I am reminded as to why the scale is pure BS. I hopped on it yesterday and I was like why is it up?? I’ve been following my calorie deficit, being active, what’s going on?? Today I put in these new jeans I bought and they fit perfectly. In fact, they are a little loose at the time. And I’m like … ah. That’s right. Scale doesn’t tell the whole story.

My body is changing.

Although I preach this, sometimes I get lost with it as well. How can’t we? We’re engrained with this belief that the number on the scale matters.

Remember to pay attention to the none scale victories more than the actual scale.

Have a great Easter Weekend! 🐣🐰🩷

Here’s the thing…

I absolutely hate cardio. I wish I didn’t but I do. However, I love lifting. Keeping my muscles strong. But you know what? Cardio is for your cardiovascular health, which is your heart which is in fact a muscle.

So… now the shift from cardio to heart muscles is what makes me want to get on the stair master, treadmill or bike. Because you need to keep your heart muscles strong too❤️💪🏼

Just a reminder ✨

BMI is trash & so is the scale.

The best way to measure progress-PHOTOS.

One month between left photos vs right and you can tell there is a difference. BUT the scale hasn’t moved.

How are your clothes fitting?
How are you feeling?
How are your workouts going?

Progress is measured in many different ways.

Above all, be kind to yourself 🩷

✨Just a reminder ✨

Your weight might fluctuate but your worth will not. Have a great Thursday beautiful people😘
