Stablecoin Tether (USDT) has seen a significant surge in adoption in Brazil, accounting for 80% of all cryptocurrency transactions in the country, according to data from Brazil’s revenue service agency.

As of mid-October, USDT transactions in Brazil this year amounted to $271 billion Brazilian reais (~$55 billion), almost double the volume of Bitcoin BTC transactions in the country, which were $151 billion reais (~$30 billion).

Bitcoin prices rose to their highest in more than 17 months this morning in Asia amid investor excitement over the prospect of an exchange-traded fund based on the cryptocurrency. BTC was trading at $34,586 at the time of writing, its strongest since May 2022, when the sudden collapse of tokens Luna and TerraUSD triggered a global sell-off in digital assets.

BTC breaks $30,000 and as of writing this post, BTC is trading at $30,400, hitting a 2-month high on Bitcoin ETF approval optimism.

One of the vocal optimists is Anthony Scaramucci, founder of Skybridge Capital; and he predicts that if Blackrock’s spot bitcoin ETF receives approval, bitcoin’s valuation could multiply by 11.

“Think of the magnitude of that, if there’s $100 billion that flows in bitcoin that could have an 11-times factor in terms of valuation. So, you could see bitcoin go from a $600 billion asset to a $600 trillion asset,” he claims.

The United States government has become one of the largest Bitcoin holders, with over 200,000 BTC worth more than $5 billion, according to data from crypto firm 21.co.

The firm noted in its analysis that these are “lower-bound estimations of the U.S. government holdings based on publicly available information.”

Ferrari has started to accept payment in cryptocurrency for its luxury sports cars in the U.S. and will extend the scheme to Europe.

Ferrari said the decision came in response to requests from the market and dealers as many of its clients have invested in crypto.

Ferrari will allow payment transactions in bitcoin, ether and USDC.

ETH has the potential to reach $8,000 by the end of 2026 versus its current level just below $1,600, said Geoff Kendrick, Head of FX Research, West, and Digital Assets Research at Standard Chartered Bank.

While Ethereum's dominant uses currently are non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and decentralized finance (DeFi), said Kendrick, an evolution towards gaming and tokenization should add "significant demand."

Importantly, this should provide ‘proof of concept’ examples in which real-world industries come on-chain to exploit the benefits of Ethereum over their existing setups. We expect significant developments on these fronts by 2025-26, he added.

Recent data shows that search interest recently hit 14. This is a stark contrast to its peak of 100 in May 2021 and the subsequent 63 it registered in June 2022.

This downturn in search interest is generally interpreted within the crypto community as a bullish sign, indicating a market devoid of hype.

Saudi Arabia ranked as the country with the highest growth volume of cryptocurrency transactions globally over a 12-month period

The kingdom led globally with a 12% increase in crypto transaction volume reaching nearly $31 billion from July 2022 through June 2023, compared to the same period in 2021-22, reported New York-based blockchain analysis firm Chainalysis in its 2023 Geography of Cryptocurrency Report.

Investment research firm ByteTree upgraded bitcoin’s price outlook to “bull” from “neutral” as the crypto benefits as a “safe haven” amid an equity and bond sell-off.

“Bitcoin futures look good, especially when you compare them to the crisis in the bond market,” Charlie Morris, chief investment officer of ByteTree, said in the report.

He pointed out that BTC is beating the U.S. stock market at a time when surging bond yields wreak havoc on traditional markets. When interest rates peak and the bond sell-off ends, BTC will be “off to the races,” he said.

Morris noted that during BTC’s latest corrective move, the crypto held above the key $25,000 level, which capped the price between May 2022 and March 2023.” If we can hold that $25,000 level, which we probably will, BTC is very much in a bull market, albeit a quiet one.”

Shark Tank investor Kevin O’Leary, has expressed concerns that regulatory obstacles will drive crypto innovation away from the U.S.

He added that while the U.S. is chasing innovation out of the country, others are rising up to take its place.

“This hasn’t been announced yet, but in Abu Dhabi, they’re planning the launch of a new exchange to replace both FTX and Binance.” Said O’Leary

He noted that this crypto exchange will be “totally compliant” and “backed by billions of dollars.”

O’Leary added: “Where do you think all this innovation is going to go? It’s going to go to the UAE. It’s going to go to Abu Dhabi.”

Amid scam concerns and regulatory changes, JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s U.K. division, Chase UK, will halt cryptocurrency-related payments starting October 16.

Chase stated: “We’ve seen an increase in the number of crypto scams targeting U.K. consumers, so we have taken the decision to prevent the purchase of crypto assets on a Chase debit card or by transferring money to a crypto site from a Chase account,”

وسط مخاوف الاحتيال والتغييرات التنظيمية، سيقوم قسم المملكة المتحدة التابع لشركة JPMorgan Chase & Co، Chase UK، بإيقاف المدفوعات المتعلقة بالعملات المشفرة اعتبارًا من 16 أكتوبر.

وصرح بنك تشيس: "لقد شهدنا زيادة في عدد عمليات الاحتيال المتعلقة بالعملات المشفرة التي تستهدف المستهلكين في المملكة المتحدة، لذلك اتخذنا قرارًا بمنع شراء أصول العملات المشفرة على بطاقة خصم تشيس أو عن طريق تحويل الأموال إلى موقع عملات مشفرة من حساب تشيس".
