ONE WEEK MORE TO GO
A week today, the nation will stand in front of a mirror and ask ourselves some critical questions that when answered will help us regain our lost glory as the Gateway to West Africa.
At a time that our democratic experiment on the African continent has been forcefully challenged and interrupted in sister countries, Ghana also stand the risk of joining the list of failed democracies, should we fail to examine ourselves and make necessary corrections.
An important institution needed to help checkmate the country from falling into the abyss of military dictatorship is the judiciary.
So we have taken the bold decision that on Tuesday, 24th October, 2023, we will do this self-check at the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana, under the guidance of a retired Supreme Court judge, His Lordship Justice William Atuguba and a retired Court of Appeal judge, His Lordship Justice Kweku Gyan.
Please join us for this historic opportunity to examine ourselves.
We are pleased to inform the general public, that our next *Agenda For Ghana* lecture is taking place this month, and the topic is: *PROTECTING OUR DEMOCRACY, _The Role of the Judiciary_.*
At a time that we are witnessing wild jubilation in African countries where military adventurists successfully overthrow democratic governments, it has become necessary for us in Ghana to protect our democracy by addressing the underlying issues which are compelling the African youth to disavow constitutional democracy in our sister African countries.
The jubilant masses in those capitals and the military adventurists have jointly accused the toppled democratically-elected governments, of abusing or misapplying their executive powers. In effect, the coupist and the youth say they lost trust in the ability of any democratic institution of state to capably control the executive elected Presidents.
To address this pertinent issue in line with the role that the judiciary is supposed to play in keeping executive powers in check and stop executive abuse of power and privileges, as expected in a working democracy, we hereby announce Justice William Atuguba (retired justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana) as the main speaker at this all important public lecture. This event will be hosted at the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana on Tuesday, 24th October, 2023 at 11:30 am, in line with an agreement between us and the school.
We hereby invite public spirited Ghanaians to join us on the day, as we give the nation such rich conversation about our statehood, shape the minds of those in authority and help the course of our national development by avoiding the mistakes that have led to the recent overthrow of democracies in our subregion.
A retired justice of the Court of Appeal, Justice Kwaku Gyan will be the chairman of the programme and he is also expected to make significant contributions to the topic under discussion. Other legal luminaries will be in attendance, with some serving as members of a panel that will review this lecture and also answer questions from the audience.
All members of the public are cordially invited.🙏🏽

Responding to Prof. Atuguba’s critics in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Benjamin Essuman, Solidaire Ghana emphasized the context within which the Dean of the School of Law at the University of Ghana made the statement about the eminence of a coup d’état.
“The Professor indeed made a harmless call to nationalism and sacrifice to save the broken Ghanaian economy. As part of his speech, he called on Government to make sacrifices that will encourage Ghanaians to accept the obnoxious E-Levy.

A Public Lecture and Panel Discussion on the topic
*A Reviewed 1992 Constitution and It's Impact On The Economy Of Ghana: Looking Forward*
We are live on
Woezor TV, TV XYZ and Metro TV
at 11am.
All are cordially invited 📚🇬🇭📖
On Monday, 28th February, there will be an AGENDA FOR GHANA Lecture and Panel Discussion you can't afford to miss.
Please join us to discuss the way forward for Ghana
Prof JEA Mills as President of Ghana, inaugurated the Constitutional Review Commission, in response to several calls on the need to amend some entrenched and non entrenched provisions of the 1992 constitution, to enable Ghanaians enjoy a more effective and efficient constitutional democracy.
After submitting its report, leading to a Government White Paper and later the setting up of an implementation committee, no substantial progress has been made in the past six years.
We at SOLIDAIRE GHANA have therefore decided to interrogate the issues of the Constitutional Review and help chat a path way forward.
We are doing this in our quest to stimulate and focus the minds of the general public and government, on the necessary steps needed to be taken to build a proud nation under a better constitution.
We hope by this lecture and panel discussion, we can encourage Ghanaians to support the approval of the amendments proposed by Constitutional Review commission.
Many accomplished Ghanaians have agreed to join us at this all important program, including the main speaker and members of the panel.
We hope you join us too.
From our Honorary President to the World.

You need a democrat to build and deepen a democracy, before the people can enjoy the developmental dividends of good governance practices. But, when you elect an autocrat to lead a democracy, He will erode the gains made over the years prior to his election and thereby deny the people the expected gains in development - *Michael Abbey of Friedrich Ebert Foundation, speaking at SOLIDAIRE GOVERNANCE FORUM LECTURES*
Are we enjoying the democratic dividends of Good Governance such as being responsive to the needs of the Ghanaian and having a high sense of accountability in public office? -
