There’s a season for everything and a collection of images like this remind me of projects I’ve worked on that really fired me up. I look at these photos and 80% of them have yet to see the light of day other than teasers here. On my page. So crazy. Some projects land. Some don’t. And some just take a freaking long time to get released. And it’s the pursuit of them that keeps me going. Cause one day, they are going to hit. And it’s going to feel good. And it’s going to feel right. Over 12 years of doing this and it still feels new each day. It’s coming. 🔥

Before and after. Parts of it anyway…I started shooting my buddy making me a San Mai chef blade a while back. Life happened and we never got around to finishing it. Well…he totally surprised me like always and finished it for my birthday! Bazinga I’m shook!!! This thing is a beaut 🔥 He keeps upping the ante and man, he does killer work. Thanks Matt! Appreciate ya bud and way more than just your cool knives 😉 Such a solid friend 👊🏻

Field to table - it’s hard to put into words the feeling of being around friends and cooking. Especially fellas like .a.lait - a whole different caliber of skill and craft. It’s really lit a new fire under me for better appreciation of the art of cooking and food in general. And lately I’ve been around it more and more with opportunity to capture these moments. I’m super thankful for it and the people that have brought me in to their circle. Also makes me even more excited to finally close on our home this month and get back in the kitchen with Kac (who’s the bomb at cooking).

It’s iced over here in TX so it’s a little slower paced today. I’m looking back through some photos and man I really enjoyed this season of making these. Especially this collab with my friend .studio and adding his killer art to my work. It’s a time I’ll cherish forever. It’s a reminder that everything is worth trying and doing. You’ll never know until you do. And I’m thankful for new and old friends that were with me along the way. Cheers to new adventures friends and always willing to risk it 👊🏻

Some of my favorites from the // 10 frames of the Texas Star. I was 2 when this thing was introduced to the fairgrounds. A true Dallas icon for as long as I can remember. 212ft 6in holding up to 264 passengers. A classic ride that I hope stays around for a long time.

Man, I’ve been rolling some archive footage working on another project and digging through all the 2020 Desert Door BackBurn project we filmed. Still wild to think about how we just showed up at dark and then shot for the next 2 days not knowing 100% how all this was going to go down. Our first time working with and it was a firestorm of awesomeness. Hard to nail pre-production on a job like this when so much is out of our control and zero scouting beforehand. But that’s one thing I love about working with and - The eagerness to adapt, figure things out on the fly and always push to get the story told no matter what. I’m watching this again today remembering all the events that took place for us to pull this off. Literally set acres on fire and we ran like wild men to tell this story. I think we had also just got a new FX9 and rigged out at about $20k and Clay yelled at me a couple times to get out of the fire, smoke and ash. Haha. Good times. Need to do it again soon.

I had no idea it was suppose to even storm tonight. Came in pretty quick too. Couldn’t find the plate to my tripod so went handheld for this one. Tried to stay dry too. ISO2500 / 24mm / f7.1 and 1/6sec

Spent a week up in Granby CO with my Saltbox crew working on a film and we had a little downtime to get a couple runs without our cameras. So we ripped it for a bit and I got some shots with my phone. Good times 👊🏻⚡️( snuck a shot of DV in there too ) you’ll have to check out some stills too over at WeAreSaltbox.com/salty-stories

Helped my pal and biz partner Clay shoot this back in 2017. Got a text from him today that his grandfather had just passed and I immediately thought of this film he made. I really can’t put myself in his shoes to embrace the feelings and emotions right now. The loss of his dads dad. But I know there’s a reason for everything that comes and goes. The experiences we are dealt are life lessons. And I know he will continue to become a stronger man because of them. He’s got a good story to tell on how we see time. His view on it is his daily reality and one I can appreciate. If you get a minute - shoot him a note, tag him or leave him a DM. I know he won’t ask for it but he could use a bit of encouragement today 👉🏻

Wild places define who we are as Texans. Regeneration is at the core of these places and at the heart of Desert Door’s culture.

To further this, Texas Sotol is introducing a conservation series in partnership with land stewards in Texas.

A film by yours truly 🤘🏻thankful for an awesome partnership with our friends at Desert Door!
