Finding good wood slabs in the North Island can be like finding a needle in a haystack. After a lot of searching we have found a good supplier with some amazing slabs. We will be getting them mostly to turn into tables for our business, but will have a few spare if anyone would like some? The two types are Maple and Black Maire brought from a permitted arborist. Well, it's been a while since our last post. Covid lockdowns have been incredibly busy with many people at home looking for things to do. During this time we have also been finding new products which will make it easier for you to produce a quality table simply, along with a few sample projects and custom table orders.

Here's a few pictures of our latest sample tables available on our website now. This table has been double layered, with a deeper black pigment on the bottom, and a lighter layer up top to give both depth of colour, and clarity.

Loving the look of this new table. Managed to save this Puriri slab from being cut for firewood. Still needs a little work before it’s finished, but pretty happy so far. I have another slab of Puriri and some swamp Rimu for those wanting to create there own masterpieces.

Here’s another project we have only a few days to complete. First day is selecting wood from our local sawmill, cutting into half, sealing edges and creating mould. Tomorrow is pouring a black opaque resin into the mould and warming the room for a fast cure. Third day is flattening and finishing. A 3 day wonder.!!!! Stay tuned for the next update....

Here's a new project for next week. These Puriri slabs where a little too warped to make a lengthways table, so angled it is. There's plenty of character in the wood, so looking to do a translucent to bring out all the flavour. I've already done a few black translucent tables which are stunning, but wanting to try something else. Either tan, coffee or dark green......???
