Anyone heard of the story of the Tortoise and the Hare? I loved stories like this while growing up as there were life lessons in them. Yet now as an adult I do find myself thinking ‘damn, that tortoise had the patience and determination of a saint’
Needless to say; my dark comedy novella is happening slowly but surely; I’m probably at 60% with it now and hoping it’s done by May but will keep you posted. I’m also working on two other books alongside it hence the delay~ Rachael
Dear Diary,
Today I did my first piece of writing in 2024. It felt good and it’s full speed ahead on my dark comedy novella I’ve been trying to write for the past few years. I hope it will be out in late summer/ early Autumn so we’ll see how that goes. I feel optimistic! It should be about 30,000-35,000 words. Currently I have 8,000 so I’m about 25% in!!
Rachael x
Happy New Year to you all, I’m excited to get on with some writing this year.
I’m actually working on three books at once. All of them very different from each other. I’m really hoping all 3 will be out in the first 3/4 of this year. Too optimistic?? 😬🙈🤣 what’s your goals for this year? More importantly are they achievable?
~Rachael
Wishing all my amazing readers and supporters a fantastic Christmas and all the best for the New Year. Thank you so much for your support over the last year, it means so much and see you all in 2024 🙌🏻😊 ~ Rachael
Yay!! My fourth novel is here!! Something so emotional about holding something that took you over a year to create in your hand~ Rachael

Today's sneak peek shows that Daniel did have one good male role model growing up. I don't think he would have made it through the events of this book without him.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Is it one of the reasons your mind was elsewhere tonight?" I groan, I have no choice but to fess up to coach about Julia cause otherwise he's going to push for the truth about what's going on at home.
"No coach," I admit. "The truth is I… well…I… I got a date." Coach's eyebrows fly up and suddenly he roars with laughter. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I mean I respect coach more than anyone else but he's being so rude right now. Then he stops and pats me on the shoulder.
"Sorry Robertson," he says regretfully. "I wasn't laughing at you having a date. I was laughing because I thought it was something a little bit more serious." I nod and find myself suddenly grinning at him. I feel relieved that the idea of me having a date isn't all that funny. "She pretty?" he asks. I nod flushing slightly red. "She must be to prove such a distraction," he adds. I study coach's face and he smiling widely, and I could be wrong, but I think he's really happy for me.

In today's sneak peek from 'Reasonable Doubt' you'll find out a little about Daniel's home life! It's so strange connecting the teenager we see in this book with the sophisicated yet broken pyschatrist we meet in 'The Corrupted Trilogy'
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Your mom understands me better than anyone," he explains "and I won't be spoken down to by some skinny as***le kid who doesn't get s**t." Wow: Nice to know what he really thinks of me as if the way he treats me wasn't enough to go off.
"Just cos she understands why you're an as***le doesn't make you any less of one," I say forcefully. "She loves you, and in return you beat the crap out of her." I don't see Joe's fist flying towards my face, but I feel it's impact as it collides with the right-hand side of my face. Time seems to stand still as I register what just happened.

Let's kick off the weekend with a fun sneak peek from 'Reasonable Doubt' that comes out in just 3 days time. This little scene proves that Daniel wasn't always so confident with the ladies.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Aren't you going to kiss me?" she asks. My heart falls through to my stomach as nerves threaten to attack every part of my body. It's not like I haven't kissed a girl before, I've kissed a few, but all of them were because I felt it was expected of me. With Julia I feel like it might mean a lot more. This is the first time I might get the chance to kiss a woman because I want to, so why for the love of god can't I move my body? Julia grabs hold of my t-shirt and pulls me towards her. Shouldn't it be me taking the lead here?

Woohoo! I just sent the final draft of my fourth novel (and prequel to the Corrupted Trilogy) Reasonable Doubt to my editor. Hopeful it will now be out at some point before the end of the year. I’m aiming for November some time but it all depends on what my editor comes back with 😊 once it’s out I’ll be able to go into a bit more detail about what caused such a big delay but why I’m happy it happened~ Rachael
A little over a year ago the final book in ‘The Corrupted Trilogy’ was completed. The spin-off prequel has gone through some major re-writes but I’m almost ready to do the final redraft so it should definitely be out by the end of this year. Thanks for standing by 😊~ Rachael
I have reached 400 followers! Thank you so much to each and everyone of you. I know I haven’t been as active as much on here of late, but I am working hard behind the scenes to ensure this Corrupted Trilogy prequel will be released as soon as possible 😊👍🏻~ Rachael
So this time because Reasonable Doubt is told from the point of view of an American teenager in the late 1980s, I decided to use American beta readers before sending the book to my editor.
Beta readers review your book and give you feedback on if there are any plot holes, general story analysis and language used. For this book I was particularly adamant I didn’t want to sound too British by accident.
As far as beta readers go I struck gold with one in particular who has provided me with excellent constructive feedback. One thing that became abundantly clear in his review is that my knowledge of American football is quite bad 🤣🤣🙈 the main thing is though he’s given me lots to work through which I can address in the second draft👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It’s really opened my eyes to how useful beta readers can be and I think I’d love to use more of them in future after this positive experience 😊
Those of you who know me well, know that I never write the words ‘the end’ or ‘to be continued’ in the case of the first two trilogy books, until I’ve finished my first draft. So with that being said, in terms of my fourth book prequel ‘Reasonable Doubt’……Ta-da!!
