🌟Many people think empathy simply means feeling sympathy or understanding someone else’s emotions. However, empathy is a much more complex and layered emotion.

💜 In its truest form, empathy is a combination of emotional intelligence, cognitive understanding, and the ability to take perspective.

🥲 The emotional component of empathy is feeling someone else’s emotions. A person with empathy can feel another’s joy, sadness, anger, and anxiety etc.

🧠 The cognitive component of empathy is understanding another’s experience. This means being able to accurately interpret another person’s emotions and motivations and being able to think from their perspective.

👁️ The perspective component of empathy is the ability to recognize and respect another person’s point of view. It’s being able to step outside of yourself and take into account the context and circumstances of another person’s experience.

🫶 Empathy is the ability to sense, understand, and respond to another person’s emotions in a way that is meaningful and helpful. It is a complex mix of things that go way beyond what’s on the surface.

I spent the majority of my life dealing with anxiety and panic attacks (since I was 12 up until a few years ago). I know how debilitating and draining it can be! ⁣

Having a mindfulness practice is one of the many things I have in my tool bag to help me deal with my anxiety!⁣ Hell, it’s more of a lifestyle in itself at this point for me!

Using a few simple techniques and skills, we can stop our anxiety before it even starts! ⁣

And we can do all this in only 10 minutes a day y’all! 💜⁣

⭐️ I can teach you how to stop the train of thought causing the distress⁣

⭐️ Use mindfulness to check in with yourself and be more self-aware⁣

⭐️ Install therapeutic techniques to quiet down your brain and slow down its activity

OVERTHINKERS, like myself, find weird joy in picking apart everything down to the smallest details. It’s perfectly normal to think and contemplate about things, after all, we are curious beings discovering the universe 😉 ⁣

But when it becomes a detriment to you and others in your life, that’s when a change needs to take place. ⁣

If we can allow ourselves the space and time to take a step back and think about why we overthink, and how it is affecting us mentally and physically, we can better asses the situation, respond, and find was to calm down and relax a bit!⁣

If you “think” it’s perfectly normal to feel a tug of war in the inner workings of your mind every 10 seconds, then I’m here to tell you otherwise. Because it’s NOT.⁣

In most cases overthinking does way more harm than it does good. The issue is whether or not you can step in and nip it in the bud before things start to get worse. ⁣

We must provide ourselves with a healthy, safe place we can sit down, breathe, and reflect on our thoughts, as opposed to just reacting abruptly to them.⁣

Checking in with a friend or mentor can also be very beneficial! 🙋🏻‍♂️ ⁣

Setting boundaries is a process! At first you may feel selfish, guilty, or embarrassed when you set a boundary.

Do it anyway and remind yourself you have a right to self-care!

Setting boundaries takes practice and determination. Don’t let anxiety, fear or guilt prevent you from taking care of yourself.

Listen to yourself and determine what you need to do or say, then communicate assertively.

It’s also important to develop a support system of people who respect your right to set boundaries and who uplift and empower you. Eliminate the toxic people in your life that want to manipulate, abuse, and control you!

Your NEEDS matter! You are just as deserving of LOVE and KINDNESS, the same LOVE and KINDNESS that you readily offer to others.

Your SUFFERING matters! The same SUFFERING you are empathetic towards and try to comfort in others.

YOU MATTER! Once you can understand this, then you are able to LOVE with the fullness of your being.
