A study of fun in three parts: lazy indifference, fun, and a little bit of terror.
Cute moment from the carnival of a few friends enjoying the night.
Adult relationships are weird. Since we met years ago we’ve spent the majority of almost every day together and rather than growing tired of her company I find myself missing her company when not around.
She used to find my need to stop and photograph things annoying as it slowed down whatever activity we were doing but after stepping behind the camera herself she jump headlong into a new hobby. It seems to suit her introverted nature.
It is annoying how quickly she started going from snapshots to incredible photos, often inspiring jealousy in getting better shots.
It is a constant reminder that couples grow and change together and when that growth is healthy it makes a stronger connection and a better life.
I look forward to many more years of her putting up with my incessant photo snapping and competing for more impressive photos.
Aka I love the woman behind that camera.
Hoping this isn't the last of the butterflies but the weather is getting colder so I don't like the odds.
Gorgeous little gang of monarchs.
Another mini-falls from Kelly's Run.
High water waterfalls at Kelly's Run. Had to hustle as we were a bit too far behind schedule. Need to head back when the leaves change with a lot more time.
A misty morning made for some moody black and white photos.
But did you know.... .f.i.s.h.e.r has a mild fear of frogs? She really doesn't like it when they jump around her. Fun fact of the day.
Another in the poultry series. This chicken looked more serious than cancer.
We had a touch of fall on our trip to New England and Katie was definitely throwing off fall vibes.
I'm dying for some cooler weather especially with all this humid heat.
Whenever I get a closeup of chickens I realize they really are domesticated dinosaurs.
Fear the cold, dead eyes of a ruthless killer.
It took some scrambling but I got a shot of a boring little lighthouse that looks okay. Not bad for an overly bright day and the most boring sky imaginable.
Perhaps my favorite butterfly photo in a long time, if ever. The depth, the colors, the butterfly are all just gorgeous.
Climbing rocks during COVID has been difficult but sometimes finding joy in what we have is worthwhile. This is .kas.sha, she is a strong climber and good friend. Here she is from a few nights ago enjoying a good route with an impossible move. Her joy in failure is a quality to admire.
The at Kelly's Run this summer have been copious and beautiful. As frustrating as it can be to shoot them the results can be fantastic. @ Kelly's Run Natural Area
Not the . Anything but the bees. Loved shooting this little guy. The world is awesome.
I love the image stabilization of the . Longwood was pretty adamant about no tripods (most likely for video purposes) but i got some great shots regardless. @ Longwood Gardens
Nothing made me smile like thinking i was wasting time photographing the water show until she saw a preview. I do like how I've improved slowly at photography.
This is baby Gunner. He is a new puppy going on his first big hike at Kelly's Run. He had a blast with the water and could NOT stop playing with his "brother" Odie. Here he is looking ferocious. Though he really is a big baby.
Thor is looking intense in this photo. Getting shots of dogs can be difficult. They tend not to like it, they don't know how to fake emotions, and they don't listen to directions. So when you get a good photo you appreciate it.
Tiny nature is super fascinating. Need more insect loving friends that can name all these little friends I keep finding.
I have been playing more with and while it is a challenge to get a clear shot of tiny things that move a lot the results are really fun and fascinating.
Enjoy the that was looking for breakfast in the summer sun.
Still working out the kinks with but starting to really enjoying looking at the world up close. This dragon fly was super cooperative and he looks like an alien.
Really cannot capture the beauty of this view. @ Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania
When the hike takes a surprise turn to the right and ends up being wholly impressive. Damn Pennsylvania can be gorgeous. (Did ya see what I did there?)
I so love the little ( ) things in life. These are super tiny but very beautiful flowers.
Beginning to really love photography. Though it is very hard to get tiny subjects to sit still long enough to get good shots.
I weirdly love this shot. I really, really love when trail markers are bold, colorful, and striking. I love feeling like home in nature.
I look forward to cold watering holes on hot summer days. Hopefully a bit more isolated than recent trips.
Kelly's Run was packed yesterday. It is wonderful to see so many people enjoying nature but it makes me fearful for social distancing as it is hard to stay six feet apart on narrow trails.
That said it was a beautiful day on a gorgeous trail. I really enjoyed getting my feet and tripod wet to get some shots.
As I was taking shots of this flower, this winged beauty flew in as though it wanted to be famous. I obliged.
Social isolation photo series; Callaloo edition. Been slowly working on unique photos of downtown Lancaster small businesses. I loved this concept as the reflection of light made Callaloo look both filled yet empty. It embodied how I feel about Lancaster in general during the pandemic.
