The Vintage Journey
We are in love with all things vintage and all things camping!
As we prepare to move this weekend to our new forever home, we said goodbye and sent Betty off to her new forever home β€
She will be loved!
π Post 3 of 3 π
The storage in lazy daze are impeccable! This closet is actual huge for an older class C and the layout of Betty is just perfect β€
And nothing opens up a space more like white walls and uncovered windows!!
Yes, she will need window coverings eventually for privacy... but for now I love them naked π€ͺ

We wanted to give Betty a fresh new look but also embrace her 90's vibe with keeping her original color scheme in some of the finished details.
Whats more 90's that a brushy pink and denim blue?!

We are so excited to share Betty's makeover reveal with you all! π
Its been a longer π£ than we planned and life has changed along the way, but she is done and ready to be loved and enjoyed!
These back windows are just calling for the beach views, don't ya think?!
β±π
Nothing short of hardwork and progress over here... getting excited and wondering if anyone has seen our kids lately π€ͺ
Saturday vibes β β€. It's a beautiful sunny 64Β° and I ain't complain'n!
Still a long ways to go with , but the vision is slowly starting to come together!
Who has an Christmas elf campout?!
Even our Christmas Elf Buddy is getting into the spirit of Vintage Trailer Camping! π π»
Me after months of being deprived of camping...
Just about the only thing Diet Dr Pepper is good for, am I right?!
As if 2020 couldn't get any crazier... how does $4,400 on a new transmission and brakes sound?!
You may have noticed how quiet it has been over here at the vintage journey the last few weeks and well, its been a doozy!
Between homeschool starting and California burning to a crisp we have had no time to go camping, which has been ok since Betty has been in the shop since we tried to go on a quick over nights to the lake and her transmission blew up!
Thank heavens for amazing friends who came to the rescue to give us a ride and a tow home!
We finally got her back today and Brett is diving into brakes issue.
Whats been the craziest things 2020 has given you?!

I spy Betty (the motorhome) and boondoggles...
Nothing better than an outdoor movie night in the mountains surrounded by family β€
We are on the road again! The last roadtrip in Betty was our test run, and we figured out some things that we need along the way.
First one being a way to have kids play games while we drive without having everything go flying! And If you have met our E than you know how much he loves playing games! So this was a big priority.
So I scoured amazon for a solution and found this great set of magnetic travel sized board games! Pair it with some anti-skid shelf liner for the table top while we travel and these kids are happy playing games all 14 hours of driving!!
Now just to figure out how to keep the toddler happy!

Water Rot Replaced β
Leaky Window Fixed β
Screw Holes in Wall Filled β
New Couch Benches Built β.. Now Betty's rear is ready for paint and flooring!
I like to think that if Betty had hair, she'd have a fabulous yet classy mullet, because she is all business up front and life of the party in the back!

My two favorite things combined! Camping and Helicopters!
For you other pilots out there, could you imagine combining the maintenance of a helicopter with the maintenance of a RV!!!
The mid-1970βs was an interesting time. Jimmy Carter was president after the Watergate debacle, the lunar missions and the original Star Trek series were in ...
Shhhh...dont tell the hubs that I busted out the spray paint or else he might lock up my stash!
But in my defense, black is always better!!!
We have tried just about every "fancy", "heavy duty" and "pocket" hose out there. So far nothing has stood the test of time and nothing has been that small to store after first use. And when camping, especially in a 16ft vintage trailer, space is EVERYTHING!
We recently stumbled upon this new hose and so far I am in hose heaven! Haha
It's super lightweight and super small for storing, and is crazy light! It also comes with a storage strap with handle! Aaaannnd is long enough and tough!

Beyond the Brick
The kids and I love Legos! Love that it has running water and the cushions and table can be put down to make a bed!
Everything and everyone has a story to tell (me especially, I never stop talking haha); well we like to take these stories and put them into the designs of our campers.
We are just finishing up the main structural repairs that were needing attention first and we are pretty close to getting ready to start the fun stuff...
Behold...the vision boards (yes, I'm a total dork for making them, I know.)
90's Boho: Betty's original colors on the interior are/were that loving pink and blue that were everywhere to be found that decade! I know my house growing up did. Pink couch, pink carpet, blue carpet, blue couch, blue kitchen countertops and of course pink and blue border wallpaper!
So I thought it would be fun to keep some of the originality of that era and add a little bit of a modern twist to it!
Paradise: So as we were talking with the guy who sold us Betty, he kept talking about the memories he and his family made camping at the beach. The evidence of that was clear when I pulled up the carpet... I could have built a sand castle!! So because of this and the fact we are in Cali these days, I thought it would be fun to do a tropical/beachy theme!
But we love them both for many different reason! So Please help us choose by leaving a comment with your favorite!
Dont forget to follow us on social media so you can watch our progress AND please share our page too so we can get plenty of help deciding!
Add to this list for trailers,
-Doesn't Leak....ya right
-No water damage....ya right
-Structurally sound...ya right

Today we are starting on the roof!
First up: peeling and scraping off the old sealant to clean and prep for the new sealant that we will be using to cover the roofs seems!
Over the years we have tried several different recommended products for sealing cracks and seems. Some worked just fine, some not. But nothing that we have absolutely loved. π€·ββοΈ

Something is in my driveway and I'm not complaining!
It's been far too long since we've had a project going, we figured 2020 has been crazy enough why not throw a into the mix.
What should we name her?...
Do walkie talkies help?
Isnβt this the truth. I always say smoke follows beauty!
You guys! We are soooo close to reaching 1,000 likes on our page, we know that is nothing compared to most in todays online world; help us meet that goal by sharing and/or liking our page!!

We were able to see this one last weekend and it was amazing!
Here are a few interior shots of the 1920βs Home Built trailer that we were able to show at the Rockabilly Rally this last weekend. Our goal with this project was to keep this trailer as original as possible. Enjoy!
3rd and Final day of the Rockabilly Rally!!!
Pancake breakfast in our PJs then the PJs parade on our bikes!
Then from 10-2 we had the open house to the public and the kids sold cute frosted sugar cookies which they then took and bought a train ride and carousel ride with at the Casa de fruta.
We then danced the night away at the vintage vandals live band!
What a fun time it has been and such great people we have met!
Day 2 of Rockbilly Rally in Hollister! We started off with a yummy breakfast on our camp chef griddle. Then prepared 6 racks of ribs on the smoker and cooked them for 6 hours.
While the smoker was doing its thing we visited Casa de Fruta to get some yummy food!
Then when the ribs were done we joined all the other campers and had a feast big enough for a king! It was amazing.
Then we checked out a few more campers and ended the night frosting some vintage trailer cookies for the open house tomorrow the kids are going to try and sell!
Stop by and see us!
Day one of the Rockabilly Vintage Trailer Rally is in the books! And we even won a prize for the best Rockbilly dressed style family!!! Two more days. Open house to public on Saturday!
Today we are smoking tri tip and ribs! And looking at more amazing vintage campers!
Good info when looking at that cool little can ham you want to buy with those sweet old trailer tires
Here's how to tell how old your tires are...
For tires made in 2000- Current Date
1. Find the DOT Number
2. First 2 digits are week they were made, last 2 digits are the year
Tires Made BEFORE 2000
Date made is the last 3 digits of code. So if last 3 are 022 it means second week of 2nd year of the decade. (Which means that tire could be from 1985 or 1992!) Some tire manufacturers used a Triangle following the number during the 90's (but not all!)
PS The info is the same on Lawn Mower Belts too!
