The Marine Results team were in San Diego earlier this month to carry out an annual service, testing and installation of a massive mainsail and reacher on SY M5. To put this work into scale the Spitfires printed by Doyle sails are 1:1 and have an 11.5m wingspan.
A solid 10 days working with the crew were finished off with 2 days of sail trials.
We were joined by Doyle Sails, Carbolink & Armada Hydraulics to provide the complete service.
Thanks to the crew who, as always, made it a pleasure to be onboard.

Last But Not Least
Mirabella V was the last vessel to be built at VT Shipbuilding Woolston's yard after nearly 100 years of building ships there.

M5 was built at Vosper Thornycraft who were the only ship builders at the time with the experience of building a large Bessel out of composite material. M5's hull and superstructure is made entirely of composite material, her gross tonnage is 1017

FUN FACT ⚓
There is no bridge in the world that M5 can navigate to and pass under. The means she cannot go through the famous Panama Canal or the Suez Canal and must go the long way around the world via the capes- which she has done!

Introducing the SYM5
Over the years, the M5, originally named the Mirabells 5, has undergone two major transformations. M5's owner, Rod Lewis, is incredibly meticulous with his projects and the boat's latest and previous refits are no exception. The M5 is truly a one-of-a-kind sailing yacht.
Swipe right to see her transformation.

🔔Ringing in a NEW beginning!
Ship's bells are traditionally engraved or embossed with the name of the ship and often the year it was launched. In the event of a shipwreck, the bell was often the only positive means of identifying the ship.
