How's everyone doing? Sorry I haven't posted in a long time, but you know...ADD. đ
Let's hear something encouraging the Lord has been doing in your life!
I think this is a wonderful summary of the Gospel! Listen and be encouraged.
Tim Keller on the Gospel: A Tribute Tim Keller would be the first to say that all glory goes to God. Itâs his work that he graciously invites us into and allows us to participate. God is at wor...
I wrote this a bit ago about a giant in the Christian faith. If you have never heard of him, or read or listened to his sermons, do yourself a favor and check him out!
âEmbracing Perspectives, Cultivating Humility Tim Kellerâs Impact on My Life and Why Others Should Know Himâ
Question from one of our members: If you have ADHD, do you ever have fits like youâre yelling at God because you donât understand why you feel like this and like you have a lack of faith? I believe God can help me, but it doesn't seem like I'm getting help, so then I doubt God. I then experience meltdowns and begin to feel worse. Does anyone else experience this?
If any of you love Lord of the Rings, I had the privilege of writing this article for Tolkienology. Check it out!
Biblical Redemptive Themes in Lord of the Rings - Tolkienology The Lord of the Rings is a masterpiece of modern literature. While it is well-documented that he was not trying to write a Christian novel, Tolkienâs faith certainly influenced the work. One of the most prominent concepts in Christianity (and consequently, of the Lord of the Rings) is that of rede...
God does call us to be wise and to plan ahead (Prov.21:5), but he also demands that we hold loosely to those plans (James 4:13-17). Take joy in the fact that you excel in being flexible, even if you're not the best at planning ahead. Both are needed, and those who seem to have it all put together are warned that only God knows what tomorrow will bring!
Do the next right thing, instead!
Anyone relate? đ
"We may be unable to forget our own sins or the sins of others, but the offering to God of Jesus' perfect life instructs us that when such remembering is used to hold sin against ourselves or against others, it is not because we have measured sin rightly but because we have measured Christ's offering wrongly. His life is sufficient to cover our wrongs. His death is enough to forgive our sins."
David Gibson, in "Theology for Ministry"
I used to be better about this, but now it seems there is no need.
Praying everyone had a blessed Easter! Christ's resurrection means we too have hope. We are united to him in his death, and in his resurrection.
For you readers out there, I'd love to see what everyone is reading! If you're on Goodreads, leave the link to your profile below. Otherwise, just comment or send a screenshot of something you're reading.
What is everyone reading right now to help foster spiritual growth?
Maybe those ADHD headaches aren't so bad after all..đ
I often feel pressure of not being able to fully invite others into my life to share Christ. I don't have my life together: my house is usually in some state of chaos, I'm behind on projects, lawn is uncut, etc.
Obviously, there's a sense in which I am simply giving in to the urge to present the best version of myself. It's easy to work to make myself look better! What about all of you though? Do you feel this tension? Is there anything that has worked for you?
The Gospel preaches to our hearts, telling us that it is by the work of Christ alone that we are saved. We resist this, especially us in this community, believing instead that God only approves of us once we perfectly obey Him. However, we repeatedly fail to obey God, and so because we think our good deeds are what makes God love us, we begin to doubt His love for us.
The Gospel says that you aren't good enough, but Jesus is. It says to not act out of selfish ambition or pride or fear, but out of gratitude for what Christ has done for you.
I know we tend to live and die on every success and failure we have. When we succeed we feel great, when we fail, we question whether we're any good at all. The Gospel says to stop wearing yourself out and to instead, put your faith in and to rest in, Jesus' goodness.
God already knew what a failure you were when He died for you. He did it anyways because of His great love for you! Rest in that!
God can use Serotonin, so there's nothing wrong in incorporating things into your schedule that will help produce some for you!
Sarah's Scribbles - Serotonin This comic is for barely-functioning people, created by a barely-functioning person.
What we believe about the future should affect us in the present. We have the hope of life everlasting, of being found righteous before the Father, of our imperishable inheritance, but do those things force you to look beyond the struggles of today? Live for God, but freely live!
Interesting article!
The History of ADHD and Its Treatments ADHD wasnât called ADHD until the late 1980s, but its core symptoms have been recognized as a condition since the early 1900s. The history of ADHD â and its treatment with medications â is still evolving today as we achieve greater understanding of this complex disorder.
