Evening all . Tonight's post is going to be a bit more serious than mower racing.
We have been approached by a friend of the club to support his dry July fundraiser for men's health via the
Cambridge prostate cancer support group.
They are fundraising for this cause as there is no government funded routine screening program for men . Having suffered from prostate cancer 3 years ago he has made it his goal to spread the word on detection and awareness.
If you can spare anything, please donate to this very important cause . It may help save the life of a male in your life in the future.
Great work Doug lineham
Matamata mower racing club has donated $100 towards this important cause.
http://www.dryjuly.co.nz/users/doug-lineham
Support Doug Lineham this Dry July and make a donation. I've signed up for Dry July to raise money for people affected by cancer.
Unfortunately with all the rain we have had this week the track will need a bit more then two days sun to dry up. . it's just too wet to go out and race as it will do more damage to the track then needed.
We may have to wait for a fine spell and we may set up a late notice race day if we get a week of fine weather.
Stay dry out there and keep up the building.

Hey everyone!
Sorry our club has been slightly quiet over the last few months. Between covid and a club members wedding we have all been a bit busy.
In February our president and club member Glen & Kelly had a beautiful wedding at Thornton Park Race Track. And of course had some mowers apart of their big day!
Keep an eye on our page tonight for our next big race weekend announcement.
Keep safe and see you all there!
Weather was a little touch and go today but ment the water cart got a rest. We got a bit of racing done between showers and a nice turnout with 11 mowers coming today. Was also great to see our friends traveling up to race from other regions. Some very competitive racing today having 4 FX mowers out on the track at the same time also.
Stay tuned for updates on racing next month and future events.
Thanks to Marie for maning the bbq at lunch and Ken for the superb track prep .

First race of the day!
Mix of class 1 & 2
Awesome start to the day! With more people arriving every minute itβs turning into an incredible day!!
Come on down and have some fun!
ππππππ
Good evening everyone!! We hope youβve all had an incredible weekend.
π΄ With our race day planned for the 21st (next Sunday). We have decided to wait and just see what announcements come out this week. Before making a final decision.
π΄ Depending on what happens, we may have to postpone the race day. We understand everyone is itching to get back out on the track. But with the covid restrictions and Thornton Park being in level 3. At this stage we canβt do much about it. οΏΌ
π΄ If the level 3 is lifted we will be all go! But we will require everyone on-site to sign in with the covid tracer app or manual sign in sheet. This is to keep everyone safe.
π΄ Other than that we hope to see everyone out on the track very soon! Keep an eye on our page this week for a final decision post.
Stay safe,
The Matamata Mower Racing Club.
The new build from the Thornton Park stable is coming together nicely , should be race ready in no time. It has been stripped down to be painted and I believe it's the first in nz to be sporting this color. Can anyone guess what color is going to be here's a hint.
π
New build by James Anderson.
12 years old from Pukekohe, young and keen , not afraid to turn a nut or bolt. Stripped the Mower himself and with help from dad is gathering parts from other mowers to plumb up the vision of what he had in his head as to what his racing mower will look like.
With help from dad Sonny Anderson 127m and neighbour Glenn Williams 121m, they will help James complete his build so he can get out on the track to have some fun and maby even pick up a chequered flag one day πππ
Class 1 to start off with but hope to one day drop the v-twin back in for class 2
How good is Thornton Park Raceway looking , wider and smoother then ever. 20 plus truckloads have gone onto the track surface to build it up so the water runs off to the new drainage. One more working π with the digger to finish off the new drainage and Waikato to drop to level 2 and we will be RACING βββββββββββββππππππππππππππππ
Owner of track Ken and his son Mark Pearson have put in alot of hours over the last 3 months to get the track back to a usable standard as the rain was affecting the surface and pooling creating mud.
With the new upgrades the track will be more usable in the wetter months.
MMRC would like to thank Ken for providing such an awsome facility for us to use. We look forward to supporting this track for many years to come .
Fresh build soon to be rolling out of the Thornton Park stable is getting closer n closer with these covid levels giving everyone spair time. This beast is going to be strutting a big opposed twin and is going to turn some heads with its paint job wen complete.
This is 1 of many more to come.
LOCK DOWN LOCK DOWN LOCK DOWN.
With Auckland being in a seemingly forever LOCKDOWN our Auckland based members have been hard at it in the shed buiding . Here's Glenn's latest mower he's building while not being able to get out and about as much.
Also started on a mower for his daughter Ava. And helping his neighbor Trev get one onto the track. 3 more mowers hitting thr track soon.
Sad to this this event canceled but understand why.
Bring on next years gala π
