God Is At Your Side

The tempest raged sour, they did all they could but they were tossed about, yet no disciple jumped out of the boat into the troubled waters (Mark 4:37-40). The Red Sea was vast, they traveled many miles but they could catch no glimpse of hope in getting to the Promised Land while their enemies chased after them, yet no Israelite jumped from the solid ground into the troubled waters (Exod. 14:13-16).

The life you have is your boat & solid ground. I know you’ve done your earnest part, you’ve thrown in all your efforts, & have traveled far to realize your dreams but things are still not going as planned, but never lay down your life because life has let you down. Never jump into an early grave because what you crave for is not coming early. Things may get tough & rough, bills may pile up, food may be scarce, happiness may be out of sight, but no matter the state of your life, never put a stop to it.

You don’t know what awaits you tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow is your breakthrough day, the moment you have been dreaming of, or the day you’ve wished for all your life. Someone rightly said; “when the caterpillar thought of ending his life, he turned into a butterfly”. Your better days are ahead. Your end shall be greater than your beginning. God is at your side, why think of su***de? Say not to su***de! Say yes to life (Job 8:7). God loves you!

First things First

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33"

Devotion : In the kingdom of God, first things are first and second things are done second, and so on. When the order is changed when God has not said so, things become jammed and do not yield the expected result.

The opening scripture is a good example, in which Jesus Christ admonished His disciples and admirers to seek the kingdom of God and God's righteousness, and that all other needs would be supplied by God.

In other words, find God's utmost interest and receive our Lord Jesus Christ, and all other needs will be met.

When you change the order, you will struggle without finding rest for your life. Even as Christians, we should make Jesus Christ our utmost priority, before anything else, because we are crucified with Christ and the life we live, we live for Christ and not for our own selves, Galatians 2:20.

God bless you

AS IN THE DAYS OF NOAH

One powerful example of cause and effect occurred in the time of Noah. The book of Genesis makes clear that “the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (Genesis 6:5). The world then was “filled with violence,” as humans corrupted themselves and God’s creation (verse 11).

This disobedience to God’s beneficial laws caused automatic pain and suffering to the point that God was “grieved in His heart” and decided to start all over again through Noah and his family (verses 6, 18).Even though, from God’s perspective, the storm clouds of the impending Flood were obvious, the people of Noah’s day ignored Noah’s warnings and lived as if nothing were wrong.

Jesus Christ made this point in His warning to people about the signs of the end time.
“For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be” (Matthew 24:38-39).Like the proverbial frog in the pot that didn’t notice the increasing temperature, we can easily become inured to the increasing sin beginning to boil around us.

Year after year, human opinions about sin have changed. Actions recognized as wrong in the past are increasingly accepted, whether premarital s*x, cheating, lying, swearing, lusting or homos*xual is being accepted in our societies. Jesus warned that we must not fall prey to the apathy of Noah’s day. Understanding the signs of the end times is not just an intellectual exercise. Jesus gave these signs as warnings that are intended to motivate us to change.

Jesus is coming again, are you ready?

Today's Devotion
Topic: Pray For Them Too
Text: Acts 14:14-15

14 But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting:
15 "Men, why are you doing this? We too are only men, human like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them.

God in His own wisdom and power has placed some people in positions of trust. This makes us see these people so special and deserve special treatment as well. That is good enough.

The scripture emphasis this in Hebrews 13:17 "Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you".

It is however dangerous to see these people in positions of trust as so special and honour them like gods. By this, we make them take the place of God in our lives by worshiping them. God emphatically speaks against worshiping other gods apart from Him.

We are therefore to see our leaders as human as we are: vulnerable to sin and mistakes, they could get better if they yield more to God.They surely deserve our prayers and encouragement.

As we do our best to support and honour our leaders (Pastors, CEO's, Fathers, Heads of Dept, Managers etc), let us always be fair and constructive in our criticism. Each of us is a leader in his/ her own right. If you choose to "backbite" and "backstab" the leadership of another, you may just be creating loopholes in your own leadership position for others to strike at you one day. Let us therefore pray for, and support one another in brotherly love.

Begin to pray now. Pray against Pride, strife, backbiting and the dirty politics going on in your office, school or home. Secondly, Pray for those in authority that God gives them the wisdom to lead. Pray for yourself as a leader too.

Have a Clean Heart.

"For I acknowledge my transgressions…Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts…"Psalm 51:3, 6, NKJV

Psalm 51 is a prayer of repentance in which David acknowledged a sin he had covered up. His first step was to accept responsibility. You can’t overcome what you don’t confront—a hidden addiction, a failure, a hurt. When you hide things, it’s going to eat away at you like a poison. David went on to say that God requires truth in our inner parts. You can’t pretend and have God’s blessing at the same time.

If you’re covering things up, it’s not going to magically go away. When you come to God and ask for His forgiveness and mercy, He’ll begin to restore and put you back on the path to your destiny. David says,

“Create in me a clean heart, O God. Restore to me the joy of my salvation.” He got it out in the open and asked for forgiveness—that was the turning point. God forgave and restored him, and David went on to do great things.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Father, thank You for Your unfailing love and great compassion that blots out the stain of my sins. Thank You that I can come to You for forgiveness and mercy and truth in my heart. I ask for a clean heart and to walk in the joy of my salvation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Jesus is Coming!!!!!

Matthew 16:3

"O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?"

With the help of modern-day technology, men are able to predict changes in weather but even with the help of the Bible, men have refused to "discern the signs of the times"

Jesus is coming soon. Yet, most people look not for His imminent arrival, but for signs of miracles, signs of success, and signs for happiness in this world.

The world today has more hypocrites than those who create a path for people to walk to God. The famines, the wars, the hard times, the sicknesses, and its associates are among the many "signs of the times" which many are failing to discern.

Jesus said; "An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas" (Matt. 12:39).

The end is near. Don't fail to discern it! Repent now as tomorrow may be too late.
God loves you!

We speak of the realms of the blest, that country so bright and so fair, And oft are its glories confessed, but what must it be to be there! We speak of its pathway of gold, Its walls decked with jewels so rare, Its wonders and pleasures untold, But what must it be to be there!
I'm fixing my mind on another time. Happy Sabbath

THERE IS HOPE FOR YOUR FUTURE!

TEXT: “Thus saith the Lord; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the Lord; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.” Jeremiah 31:16 (KJV)

DEVOTION: Knowing that there is hope for your future makes you embrace each day with certainty. The LORD is a good Counselor; He always seeks to encourage us to move forward in life. He gives us hope for the future because He knows what the future holds for us.

He is the same yesterday, and today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He has given us His Word in the opening Scripture that the future looks promising with His reward; that is why we don’t have to give up in life.

The Christian race is not all cozy and rosy; there are challenges here and there but there is a sure guarantee that they will pass and give way to our blessings (Psalms 34:19).

It is time to wipe your tears and cease from weeping, for your reward is at hand. If you have a wayward child, there is still hope for that child to come back from bo***ge; don’t cease from praying for him or her.

Show them your love by speaking good words into their lives and see the Lord work a miracle for you. Meditate on the opening scripture again and begin to praise God; He is about to turn your mourning into dancing in order to put your enemies to shame to the glory of His name.

God bless you.

ARE YOU RIGHT WITH GOD?

TEXT: “Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.” Psalms 26:2 (KJV)

DEVOTION: Being right with God is a sure guarantee for His deliverance. Christianity is a call to walk with the Father in holiness. Without holiness no one can see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14). No wonder the psalmist asked God to examine him and point out to him his fault, so that he could repent and be right with Him.

As far as he was concerned, he was walking in integrity; so, He wanted God to also vindicate him (Psalms 26:1). It is probable that he had had some complaints in some quarters of his kingdom and wanted God to confirm what he had heard. There are times you may have to pray the Psalmist Prayer so that you can confirm that you are right with God.

There is no room to live the Christian life as though you cannot falter. There may be times that, when you pray this prayer, God will point out to you something that you need to change about your life. And when you have changed it, your life goes in a perfect direction. Jesus Christ wants a perfect life for us, and we must not let Him down (Matthew 5:48).

Are you right with God? It is time to do a comprehensive check with God so that you don’t leave any room for the enemy to get at you. Remember that there are countless blessings for living in holiness and righteousness, and you don’t have to miss any of them.

Be an overcomer!

Long have we waited for our Saviour’s return. But none the less sure is the promise. Soon we shall be in our promised home. There Jesus will lead us beside the living stream flowing from the throne of God and will explain to us the dark providences through which on this earth He brought us in order to perfect our characters. There we shall behold with undimmed vision the beauties of Eden restored. Casting at the feet of the Redeemer the crowns that He has placed on our heads and touching our golden harps, we shall fill all heaven with praise to Him that sitteth on the throne.
Let all that is beautiful in our earthly home remind us of the crystal river and green fields, the waving trees and the living fountains, the shining city and the white-robed singers, of our heavenly home—that world of beauty which no artist can picture, no mortal tongue describe. “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.”—The Adventist Home, pp. 544, 545.

Today's Devotion
Topic: Tell Them The Truth!
Text: Jer. 6:14 or Jer. 8:11

They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. 'Peace, peace,' they say, when there is no peace. Amen

You and I will bear witness to the fact that we have seen more churches in our generation than we have ever heard being told!

We have more men and women of God today than our parents' generation. Sadly, another thing we see more and more of, each passing moment is, EVIL & PERVERSION- even in the church.

For the love of money, fame, recognition and superioriry, man continues to slain his fellow. We have stolen from the poor, the vulnerable and the helpless and have called it ambitions. We have corrupted our minds with profanity and carry ourselves about without subjection, and we have called it mordenity and civilization.

Unfortunately, some of our pastors, evangelists, ministers, prayer warriors, friends and other workers of the kingdom, etc, look on and as evil is done but say, "IT IS WELL, PEACE BE WITH YOU".

Let us by the love of Christ tell the sinner Jesus loves him
He should repent for the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life. Tell him the truth, he doesn't have to die in his sins and loose spending eternal with God.

Tell the people in authority (Parents, Pastors, Managers, leaders anywhere) that they are but stewards of all that God has put them charge. They render account on how they handled and managed every one of the resources God gave them.

Tell the Christian that lives his/ her life anyhow that they shouldn't be deceived, God is not mocked whatever a man sows, that same he will reap!

Tell the corrupt politician that God is watching. The eyes of the Lord moves to and fro to see if there's one in the land that fears the Lord and shows mercy. He sees all the deceit- He will not be silent.

After the Holy Ghost empowered Peter and the other disciples (Acts 4), they began to speak the WORD with boldness. May that same boldness to defend the course of Christ by standing for TRUTH come upon us all in JESUS NAME. TELL THEM THE TRUTH, it is the only way. Begin to pray now.

Your adversary the devil.

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:8"

Devotion : An adversary is someone who always takes the opposing position, in other words, an opponent or an enemy. The devil is described as an opposition, opponent, and an enemy. He has nothing good in him and will never do good. He seeks people who are vulnerable to destroy them through hypocrisy and deception.

The only way a believer in Christ Jesus can outwit him is to be sober and vigilant. Soberness and vigilance must go together to identify the operations of the devil and his cohorts of darkness. Christians must therefore shun sleepiness, dull-mindedness, drunkenness, ignorance, and prayerlessness to overcome the adversary.

God bless you!

DON'T GIVE UP ON RIGHTEOUSNESS.

TEXT: “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:10 (KJV)

DEVOTION: Giving up on righteousness is tantamount to denying yourself the membership of the Kingdom of God. Life on earth has seen many changes, which has made it difficult for the children of God to live righteous lives (Matthew 24:12).

There is the high level of technology, freedom of worship, fast food, gay rights, same-s*x marriages, children's rights, high cost of living, etc. Some of these changes are good but others are not good; those that are not good persecute the children of God who have made it their goal to live righteous lives.

There are Christians today who are being persecuted for the mere offense of holding the Bible. No matter how hard Christians are being persecuted, it is the only way to see the Father and ensure entry to heaven.

Dear beloved, are you being persecuted for choosing to do right for Christ Jesus? Don’t give up your faith, for your reward is at hand (Revelation 2:9–11). It is better to hold onto righteousness and lose your life and go to heaven than to give up on righteousness and find yourself in hell.

Continually choose righteousness and be at peace with God, and your reward will be great. Glory to God!

PRAYER POINT: My righteous Father, thank You for Your Word today. I have decided to choose righteousness even in the midst of persecution. Please give me more grace to always live a righteous life, even if it will cost me my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen!

28/01/2023

TITLE: GOD DOES NOT SLUMBER NOR SLEEP!

TEXT: “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.” Psalms 121:1-4 (KJV)

DEVOTION: Knowing that God neither slumbers nor sleeps gives us assurance of His assistance. It is very heartwarming and exciting to read the opening Scripture because it tells us who God is. He never slumbers nor sleeps. He is alert 24/7 and not for Himself. He is alert 24/7 to protect His children; to listen to the prayers of His children and to put the enemies where they belong.

He is everywhere and ever ready to respond to His children. Therefore, don’t be anxious or afraid anymore (Isaiah 41:10). Just call on Him and He is ever-present to give you the help that you need. Call on Him in faith by His Word and the solution you need will be provided for you (Mark 11:22–23).

Are you going through any difficulty? Have you called on God in faith by His Word? If you have, then be steadfast in your faith and wait patiently, and the solution or help you need will be provided.

Remember that God uses people to meet our needs. Hence, be nice and kind to people and it will be easier for you to receive any help you need. The kindness of David to Jonathan enabled him to help David in times of trouble (1 Samuel 20:42). Thus, your kindness and tenderheartedness toward people will make room for people to bless you. Praise the Lord! God bless you!

PRAYER POINT: My dear heavenly Father, indeed You are the Most High God because You neither slumber nor sleep. This gives me the joy and assurance that any time I’m in need, You will be available to help. Please guide and lead me to be tenderhearted and kind to people so that they can easily avail themselves for You to use. And assist me in times of need in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Happy Sabbath.

The Mind a Channel of Peace

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3"

Devotion : The scriptures have revealed another secret to believers in Christ Jesus about how to live a peaceful life. The opening scripture says the mind is an essential channel through which Christians can live in perfect peace.

If your mind is fixed on Christ Jesus, you shall enjoy perfect peace; in other words, if you fill your mind with the holy scriptures, there will be perfect peace in your life. It is also a sign that you trust God simply because the mind is the control center of man.

What a man thinks in his heart so is he, Proverbs 23:7. Peace is not just the absence of war; perfect peace is a place in Christ where you are at rest, and do not struggle for anything.

God bless you.

23/01/2023

TITLE: DON'T COMPROMISE ON SIN!

TEXT: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23 (KJV)

DEVOTION: Sin is described as missing the mark or breaking the law of God. When sin is committed, it is committed against God. Sin has a tendency to short-circuit the flow of the power or glory of God.

The opening Scripture throws light on the sin of Adam and Eve, which affected the entire human race and became inherent in mankind. Therefore, mankind became spiritually dead and denied the glory of God.

That is why Jesus Christ was sent to deal with the sin of mankind so that mankind’s spirit can be recreated—thus, qualifying them to receive eternal life, thereby partaking in the glory of God once more (John 17:2). Are you born again? Are you still living in sin? If you are born again you have been given the power to overcome sin.

Therefore, don’t allow sin to have dominion over you (Romans 6:14). As a child of God, committing sin should be a mistake, not an intentional act, because you know what sin is and how to overcome it. It all starts with your mind, so change your thoughts by meditating on the Word of God.

Think about righteousness and the good of humanity, and the Holy Spirit will help you to do righteousness, thereby avoiding sin (Matthew 5:28). Beloved, never compromise on any form of sin, because it is the enemy’s way of getting into your life to destroy your beautiful life in Christ. Therefore, be strict on sin and you will bring it under your control and live in righteousness to the glory of God! You are an overcomer!

PRAYER POINT: My righteous Father, thank You for teaching me how to overcome sin. I have made up my mind to meditate on Your Word, practice your Word, and submit myself to the Holy Spirit’s leading, to overcome all manner of sins and live in righteousness in Jesus’ name. Amen!

19/01/2023

TITLE: DO THE RIGHT THINGS AT THE RIGHT TIME!

TEXT: “Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.” 1 Corinthians 4:5 (KJV)

DEVOTION: The children of God are guided by principles, and one of the principles is to judge at the right time; the saints will even judge angels (1 Corinthians 6:3). The time for judgment awaits Christ Jesus who is Lord of all.

When He has come, He will judge Christians first and those who deserve praise will be rewarded accordingly (1 Peter 4:17). Nothing is hidden before Him; even the secret of the heart is naked before Him. Now is the time for the children of God to judge their own selves or actions to know whether they are still doing what is expected of them.

They are the hope of the hopeless, comfort for the brokenhearted, courage for the discouraged, light for those in darkness, a channel of blessing for the needy, and leaders for the world. Praise the Lord! Let us rise to the occasion and do what is expected of us, to give glory to our Lord Jesus Christ who has called us into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9).

Dear beloved, are you doing the right things at the right time? Doing the right things at the right time leads to success. Remember that when the right time is missed, loss cannot be avoided. Let us take advantage of the time we have to judge our own actions while we are alive and make sure we are right with God before the coming of our Lord Jesus, and we will be happy and rejoice in His presence. God bless you!

PRAYER POINT: My eternal Father, I’m so inspired by Your Word today. Please give me the ability to discern and judge my thoughts and actions while I’m alive, get right with You, and be blessed in Jesus’ name. Amen!

18/01/2023

O God, the nations have come into Your inheritance; Your holy temple they have defiled; They have laid Jerusalem in heaps. Psalm 79:1

FOOD FOR THOUGHT(The Holy temple):
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not? Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For the two, He says, shall become one flesh. But he who is joined to the LORD is one spirit with Him.

Flee s*xual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits s*xual immorality sins against his own body.Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom, you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. (1Corinthians 6:15-20).

You are the holy temple of God and therefore you need to glorify God with your body. Don't defile it with s*xual immorality, alcohol, and the likes.

Sin is always attractive but you can say no to it.

*DAY 1 — WHERE ARE YOU?*

“Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, ‘Where are you?’” (Genesis 3:9)

*The Most Important Question*

Is there a more searching question than the one God directed at the newly-fallen Adam? God, of course, knew exactly where Adam and Eve were. He is omniscient—all-knowing—after all, so God was really asking, Adam, do you know where you are? Adam and Eve had disobeyed God (Genesis 3, 4), and their disobedience created a breach, a break in what had heretofore been a perfect relationship between God and His crowning creation. The place where God had met them on every previous day was empty on this day. The first faces ever created bore no smile for their Creator that day. Arms He had fashioned from clay did not enfold Him that day. Hearts whose beats had often synchronized with His own were strangely distant, almost silent that day.

*Not Enough*

Ellen White comments, “Satan represented to the holy pair that they would be gainers by breaking the law of God. Do we not today hear similar reasoning?” (Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 54). Adam and Eve made the mistake of listening to the devil, and he convinced them that what God offered them was not enough, that communion with God in a close, trusting relationship was not enough. In an instant the mild, balmy climes of Eden now “seemed to chill the guilty pair. The love and peace which had been theirs was gone, and in its place they felt a sense of sin, a dread of the future, a nakedness of soul. The robe of light which had enshrouded them now disappeared, and to supply its place they endeavored to fashion for themselves a covering;for they could not, while unclothed, meet the eye of God and holy angels”(p. 57). Sin had changed the spiritual condition of the only creatures in Eden with whom God had shared His very image. Indeed, it had shattered God’s image in them.

*A Time to Pray*

From Adam and Eve’s broken relationship with God to the present flood of severed ties that we see etched on faces around the globe, perhaps there is nothing more important for which to pray than for a return to the place where God waits for us. Millenniamay have passed, but the lies that felled Adam and Eve have not changed. Satan still claims that God is withholding something from us, that He cannot be trusted, that He is not enough. This message is especially alluring in a tech-obsessed, digital age in which more gadgets and connectedness promise a type of spiritual nirvana, a higher state in which we control our fate instead of bowing to theGod who made us. Now is the time to reject Satan’s lies and go back to the One who has loved us with an everlasting love, back to the One who is drawing us to His side with lovingkindness (Jeremiah 31:3)!

Let’s pray together

*Prayer Time (30–45 Minutes)*

*A Powerful Promise*

“It is a wonderful thing that we can pray effectually; that unworthy, erring mortals possess the power of offering their requests to God. What higher power can man desire than this—to be linked with the infinite God? Feeble, sinful man has the privilege of speaking to his Maker. We may utter words that reach the throne of the Monarch of the universe. We may speak with Jesus as wewalk by the way, and He says, I am at thy right hand” (Ellen G. White, Prayer, p. 7)

*All prayer groups have different ways of praying together. We encourage you to spend the next 30-45 minutes in united prayer, in whatever way the Holy Spirit leads. Below are some examples of praying through Scripture. You may pray through other passages also. See the Leader’s Guide for other prayer ideas.*

*Praying God’s Word—Jeremiah 24:7*

“I will give them a heart to know Me, thatI am the Lord; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shallreturn to Me with their whole heart.”

*“I Will Be Their God”*

God, thank You for coming to find us when we have done things to sever our relationship with You. Thank You for loving us with a love that lasts forever and for constantly, consistently, conspicuously drawing us to Your side each moment of every day. Thank You, God, for a love that still seeks sinners Amen.

*“With Their Whole Heart”*

Precious Jesus, we thank You for the promise of a rekindled heart, a heart that seeks God and waits for Him in seasons of want and seasons of plenty. We ask You to fulfill Your promise of a new heart with a new affection for You. Amen.

*“They Shall Be My People”*

God, it boggles our mindsthat You would claim us as Your own after we have left You. Thank You for covering us with the perfect life of Jesus Christ and giving us a new name (Revelation 2:17). Amen.

*More Prayer Suggestions*
