Brief description of the activity

1. Department of Ilmul Saidla conducted lecture series on AYUSH for immunity.
2. Department of Ilaj Bit tadbeer demonstrated steam inhalation by using Arq Ajeeb
3. Department of Ilmul Advia surveyed herbal garden of NIUM and discussed about useful plants in Unani system of Medicine for immunity.
4. Department of TST scholar “Dr Uzma” demonstrated about the use of sanitizer.

1. An introductory discussion was held at the department of Moalajat level where the COVID-19 and its clinical implication and integrative approach of management with Unani Medicine along with preventive measures at individual and mass level were elaborately discussed.
2. ILAJ BIT TADBEER: Fumigation of certain drugs used in Unani medicine for cleaning the environment and protection from epidemic diseases was demonstrated in ilaj bit tadbeer unit.
3. Appropriate behavior for wearing the mask was demonstrated to the housekeeping staff in hospital.

An essay writing competition on AYUSH for immunity was conducted in department of Ilmul Advia (pharmacology). The students of the department participated fervently in the event.
Covid appropriate behaviour training to security staff of NIUM: DR Abdul Nasir trained the security staff of NIUM for appropriate behaviour of wearing mask.

National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM) Bangalore is as an autonomous organization under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India working since 2004. This Institute is being developed as a model of post graduate, teaching, training and research in Unani System of Medicine.

The campus now houses an Academic Block, Hospital Building, Library, Pharmacy, Administrative Block, Herbal Garden, Animal House, Guest House, Indoor Games Hall, Hostels, Residential Blocks and several other units.

The Institute offers post graduate courses in Ten disciplines; Moalajat (Medicine), Ilmul Advia (Pharmacology), Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib (Preventive and Social medicine), Ilmul Qabalat wa Amraze Niswan (Obstetrics & Gynaecology), Ilmul Saidla (Pharmacy), Kulliyat (Basic Principles), Ilaj bit Tadbeer (Regimenal Therapy), Ilmul Jarahat (Surgery), Amraze Jild wa Tazyeeniyat (Skin & Cosmetology) and Mahiyatul Amraz (Pathology). This Institute has the credit to start PhD course from the session 2014-15 in Unani Medicine for the first time in this country. Presently institute offers PhD programme in two disciplines; Moalajat (Medicine) and Ilmul Advia (Pharmacology). The Institute regularly organizes academic events like CME, Workshops, Seminars and Guest Lectures by eminent scholars. Faculty members are deputed to various training programmes to update their technical and professional skills. The Institute also collaborates with premier scientific Institutions like NIMHANS Bangalore, Al-Ameen College of Pharmacy Bangalore to enhance teaching and research standards.
