This week we will held the Summer School of the project, organised by our colleagues of the University of Groningen, led by .
"Trauma is an invisible wound of the soul, that may not heal. It is an emotional process. Migrant children can describe it as a 'pain in the heart', 'days of darkness' or 'losing someone's soul'" (Kaveh Bouteh, Senior Counselor, Pharos).
Unaccompanied migrant children face multiple and complex challenges. Professionals should build close and trustful relationships with them in order to truly help them from deep down. The Brighter Future team has received training on the importance of a culture-sensitive approach and being aware of one's own implicit bias.
📒The consortium is developing a Teaching Module for training professionals in education working with children and youth who face early adversity.
We focus on the voices of key actors such as adopted people, children in foster care and unaccompanied migrant care.

How is the reception of unaccompanied and asylum seeking children in The Netherlands? Which challenges do they face regarding their transition to adulthood? Is there similarities or differences with care leavers' experience? What influence have social relations in this transition? Which is the educational status of these children?
The Brighter Future E+ team is learning and reflecting on these issues at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. We thank our Dutch team for the wonderful programme we have for this week! 👏🏽👏🏽
