Submarine networks carry over 99 percent of the world’s intercontinental electronic communications. The process of laying these undersea cables is a long and complicated one. The article below published by Business Insider gives an overview of this process:
https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/google-facebook-giant-undersea-cables-internet-tech-2021-9
Google and Facebook lay thousands of miles of undersea cables to ferry internet around the world. Here's how they do it. Laying thousands of miles of internet cable requires a specialized vessel and an underwater plow the height of a two-story building.
When people think of the globally increasing demand, their minds are drawn to the more advanced markets in the world, like those in Europe and the US. However, digitalisation is also taking place rapidly in with submarine investment in the region blossoming. Upcoming submarine networks such as 2Africa, Africa-1 and PEACE demonstrate this and Telecom are proud to be part of all these new networks. Put simply, there’s no investment of this magnitude going on in any other continent like it is in Africa.
