Having raised three kids with my wife in Abington, I have grown to greatly appreciate our school district. The teachers, kids, athletic programs, and arts are some of the best. I have had the pleasure of watching my kids thrive and have seen, first-hand, the kind of impact a meaningful K-12 experience can have on a child. In the recent months, I have started to question decisions being made by our school board in many areas, including staffing of cleaning service, teacher to student ratios, finance, and sports. The current crisis has brought many inconsistences and more questions to the forefront. We are understaffed in our classrooms while there is a surplus of qualified and eager potential teachers right here in our district. During these trying and difficult times, it is vital that our community embrace new ideas and feel comfortable challenging leadership. After speaking the other night at the school board meeting, I have decided to officially announce my run for the Abington Heights School Board. It’s time we embrace substantive change, denounce platitudes, listen to our constituents, and feel comfortable diverging from conformity. I am excited to run and would be honored to serve our community! It’s time for a change. Abdalla for Abington.
