The story of Dire Lej.

It started with the economic war in Ethiopia where a 3-year-old
Kanessa Muluneh together with her parents fled from their community in search of a better future. Filled with fear and uncertainty, they took this courageous step and moved to Europe for refuge.

Living in a foreign land, Kanessa's mom struggled immensely in adapting to a new environment and was constantly worried about her family back in Ethiopia.

Many years later, Kanessa in her late 20s graduated from a university. It became more significant because it was the time when she felt the pressure of making her parents proud being lifted from her. Getting a degree was her way of giving back to them.

After making her parents proud (and putting away her degree), Kanessa decided that it was time for her to give back to her family and community in Ethiopia. She acknowledged the fact that she won't be the person she is today apart from them.

Resolved, Kanessa dedicated herself to giving back to her community by educating them with all the knowledge she acquired from her years of study and experience in the West.

She then started sharing her experiences, ideas, and business success stories which inspired Ethiopians and eventually led her to have a huge following in Tiktok specifically from the Amharic community.

Given the hype and the potential of Web3 to bring economic change, Kanessa, who's also now exploring this space has tried to tackle this topic and began teaching it to the Ethiopians.

It was not long before it got much more attention and interest to the point where she was able to create an entire community that is centered on Web 3.

To give this Web3 community (Dire Lej) a first-hand experience of the technology they've been learning for several weeks, Kanessa launched the Dire Lej NFTs and sold 130+ of them.

The biggest utility of a Dire Lej NFT is education and the opportunity to take part in building an Amazon-like marketplace for the African people that will be powered by blockchain technology.

As of this writing, Dire Lej NFT holders are now attending their masterclasses and receiving the rewards tied to their NFTs. The Dire Lej community remains hungry for knowledge and is still being educated about Web3 and its practical uses.
