Birth, old age, disease and death are the inevitabilities of this life, and in order to deal with them well, one has get out of the bodily concept of life and understand that one is not the body, but is the soul within. Vedic literature says that the soul migrates from one body to another, life after life, until it achieves liberation from this material world, and for it to achieve that stage, one must engage in pure devotional service to Lord Krishna. Engaging in devotional service will help one to understand transcendental knowledge, and when one has done so, he will realize that there is more to life that just this body. Consequently, he will break out of the bodily concept of life.

This eagerness is required. We must be very, very eager to see Krsna. Many gopis who were forcibly stopped from going to Krsna lost their lives because of their great feelings of separation. So this eagerness is wanted; then you can see God. Whether you are l***y or a thief or a murderer or whatever it may be—somehow or other you must develop this eagerness, this desire: “I must see Krsna.” Then Krsna will be seen.

The first thing Krsna is looking for is how eager you are to see Him. Krsna will respond. If you are actually eager to see Krsna—whether you are l***y, or you want to steal His ornaments, or some way or other you have become attracted to Krsna—then it is sure your efforts will be successful. But you must desire Krsna only. 

When Dhruva Maharaja saw Krsna, he said, svamin krtartho ‘smi varam na yace: “My dear Lord, I don’t want anything else.” Dhruva Maharaja went to see Krsna to get the kingdom of his father, and when he saw Krsna, Krsna offered, “Now, whatever benediction you want, you take.” Dhruva said, “My dear Lord, I no longer have any desire.” That is seeing Krsna.

So, if you’re eager to see Krsna, regardless of whatever motive you have, somehow or other due to your eagerness you’ll see Krsna. That is the only qualification.

So, this eagerness is a very important thing, but it can be awakened only by the association of devotees. Therefore we are giving everyone a chance to invoke that eagerness; then you’ll see God, face to face. This life is meant for seeing Krsna. It is not meant for becoming dogs and hogs. Unfortunately, the whole modern civilization is training people to become dogs and hogs. It is only this institution—this Krsna consciousness movement—that is teaching people how to see Krsna. It is so important.

Nothing is more sweet and beautiful than having a eternal relationship with God. People in the material world spend their whole life trying to build relationships with their wives, children, friends and sometimes even enemies. It is a very sad fact that the results of building such relationships so many times end in anxiety, suffering, disappointments and sometimes fear. All these relationships we have in this material world is an illusion. The only true relationship for the jiva (soul) is our eternal relationship with God. Everyone is trying to adjust to the distressed conditions of material existence, but the basic problems cannot be solved unless one is in an intimate relationship with God. When we develop our eternal relationship with Krishna and surrender ourselves onto him, He takes care and protects us. He is our only true friend and shelter.

Purification is defined as 'cleansing', and in spiritual terms, one would usually associate purification as the removal or cleansing of sin. Therefore, purification of the heart means in this case that one that one is cleansing his heart from all the dirt accumulated in it. Srila Prabhupada says that by purifying one's heart, one can understand his position as the eternal servitor of Lord Krishna. The process of purifying the heart is to follow the regulative principles of freedom and to constantly sing and chant the Hare Krishna mantra.

THE 4 COMMON ACTIVITIES:
If we become intelligent enough to understand the śāstras, then our life is successful, human life. Otherwise, if we live like animals, we will only be engaged in eating, sleeping, mating, and defending, without any other knowledge which I we are destined to gain in this life.

Because this body is so advanced, our consciousness is so advanced, that there is possibility. But if we misuse this possibility, if we don't inquire about the Absolute Truth, simply we fight with one another for eating, sleeping, s*x-life and defending, then we are no better than animals. The animals eat, sleep, have their s*x life, and they defend, in their own way. So if we improve the method of eating, sleeping and s*xual in*******se, and defending, then we don't go beyond the animal propensities. We have got higher intelligence, higher consciousness, not to improve the method of eating, sleeping, mating and defending, but to understand the Absolute Truth. Therefore, without understanding the Absolute Truth, we are simply spoiling our opportunity of this human life.

That is how merciful Krishna is!

That is being instructed by Kṛṣṇa in the beginning, that "You are not this body." The first understanding, first knowledge, is to understand that "I am not this body. I am spirit soul. I have got a different business."

This process of chanting the holy names of God is the sublime method of reviving our God consciousness. The process of chanting also helps us control our flickering mind. The mind is very difficult to control. One who has no control of the mind, engages in sinful activities. The only process to tame the urges of the mind is to engage it in the chanting of the holy names of the Lord.

The human life is meant for making a solution to this repeated birth and death and thereby attaining a place in the spiritual sky, where everything is eternal, blissful and full of knowledge. This human form of life is very, very important, and it is meant for developing Kṛṣṇa consciousness. If one neglects that and simply engages in sense gratification, that is spoiling precious time.

In wake of this continuous efforts to materially satisfy one self, humans gradually breach all restrictions and act whimsically at their own will leading to a steep fall down.

Kṛṣṇa consciousness is already there in everyone's core of heart, but due to one's material conditional life, he has forgotten it. So this process of chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra means to revive that consciousness.

Just like to be attracted by a young girl or young boy, it is there in the child. That small child, it is there. And when he will be young, then it will be awakened. It is not that artificial something. So in association it is awakened. The potency is there already, but in good association, by hearing about Kṛṣṇa, one is awakened to the status of Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

One should depend only on the causeless mercy of the Lord for deliverance and not even slightly on one's own strength. That is the perfect position of a Kṛṣṇa conscious person. The Lord is everyone's friend, but He is especially friendly to the surrendered soul. The simple process, therefore, is that a conditioned soul should remain surrendered to the Lord, and the Lord will give him all protection to keep him out of the clutches of material contamination.

I read my books everyday because even I learn something new when I read them.

Do you know why I learn something new when I read my books?

Because these books are not my books – I do not write these books.

Every morning when I sit here to write my books Krsna comes personally and he dictates to me what to write, I simply take dictation from Krsna and I write these books.

Therefore when I read them even I learn something.”

"The Caturmasya period begins in the month of Ashadha (June-July) from the day of Ekadasi called Sayana-ekadasi, in the fortnight of the waxing moon. The period ends in the month of Kartika (October-November) on the Ekadasi day known as Utthana-ekadasi, in the fortnight of the waxing moon. This four-month period is known as Caturmasya. Some Vaishnavas also observe it from the full-moon day of Ashadha until the full-moon day of Kartika. That is also a period of four months. This period, calculated by the lunar months, is called Caturmasya, but others also observe Caturmasya according to the solar month from Sravana to Kartika. The whole period, either lunar or solar, takes place during the rainy season. Caturmasya should be observed by all sections of the population. It does not matter whether one is a grihastha or a sannyasi. The observance is obligatory for all asramas. The real purpose behind the vow taken during these four months is to minimize the quantity of sense gratification. This is not very difficult. In the month of Sravana one should not eat spinach, in the month of Bhadra one should not eat yogurt, and in the month of Asvina one should not drink milk. One should not eat fish or other nonvegetarian food during the month of Kartika. A nonvegetarian diet means fish and meat. Similarly, masura dal and urad dal are also considered nonvegetarian. These two dals contain a great amount of protein, and food rich in protein is considered nonvegetarian. On the whole, during the four-month period of Caturmasya one should practice giving up all food intended for sense enjoyment.

At every step there is danger, but under the strong grip of maya, we forget this. So the task is very great to give real knowledge, Krishna consciousness, to everyone, and I am so much encouraged by your determined efforts. Please increase more and more, and Krishna will help you.-
