We're a bit like that too. During darker times, we seek the light and warmth we know is out there. Likewise, the sunnier days keep us hopeful when difficulties arise. Both happen.

This girl was my super helper at the food pantry yesterday ❤️ So grateful when my family shares this slice of my life!
Friends, I don’t discuss it much, but this food pantry has become a huge part of my life.
Yesterday amidst the chaos (and it was chaotic yesterday!) a guest said, “You have such a nice smile and always make me feel welcome!” I’ve cried about that several times since. In fact, I’m welling up all over again as I share it now.
It knocked me over because I’ve been struggling with my own feelings of inadequacy lately. Feeling a lot of failure. Criticizing myself. I’ve been speaking pretty harshly to myself inside my head.
This random woman, who’d stood in the cold for an hour to get a simple box of food, shared kindness I haven’t been able to give myself lately.
We’re all the same underneath. Whether you’re driving around in a Lexus with a fat bank account or eating food some strangers donated and assembled for you, we need each other.
We NEED each other.
All of us. We are better people when we admit it. We need each other to lift each other. See the best instead of the worst. Broadcast our love instead of all the other BS we hear.
I wasn’t ‘serving’ her yesterday. She ministered to me and all the broken feelings I keep tucked under the covers.
As Ram Dass so wisely said, “We’re all just walking each other home.”
