100% Please take a photo of your child taking a risk.
"Children who aren't allowed to take risks are more prone to anxiety conditions later in life. No risk = fear, insecurity, anxiety, lack of self-esteem."

Thought of the day. Some of the best curriculum ideas came from allowing myself and my student's to feel bored.
You’re welcome ❤️
Keep in mind the importance of physical touch. Especially for young children. Remember to give extra high fives, hugs, and cuddles.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support me and my new page. During these uncertain times I have been able to continue paying my rent and other bills without interruption. If there are any posts you like please share and if there are any topics you are interested please do message me.
Pouring is a foundational skill for writing. Considering that pouring facilitates practice in gripping objects and completing complex hand movements. On beautiful warm days like these offer children more and varied opportunities to pour, including precision pouring and power pouring on multiple levels to promote extension and balance so they master the art. Mesuaring cups, water and a large bowl is sometimes all you need.
Meet me on Zoom! Monday-Friday at 11 am and 2 pm. Message me for the password.
Save your cardboard! Cutting them into smaller peices provides endless opportunities. Check out our newest creation. Robot Pinocchio. (Depending on your child's age consider precutting some tape to avoid frustration and promoting autonomy)
Now exhale, you are doing an amazing job.

Friendly reminder: Hold periodic family drills both for earthquakes and for fires. Young children need practice and reinforcement. Use language like, "Today we are going to practice, just like you do in school." This should not be scary, in-fact this should help our children feel strong, empowered, and in control.

Here are some topics we can cover during a 30 min Zoom call. Why let the kids have all the fun?
1. Rethinking our Routines 2. Online communication and documentation 3. Fostering autonomy and independence 4. Enabling Environments 5. Transforming activities into Learning Opportunities 6. Project-Based learning Vs Play-Based learning
Followers have asked me about how to speak to children about COVID-19. There are a few scientific communities I follow, this video is the one I recommend to families.
Consider dedicating time for some DRAMATIC PLAY this weekend. Check out this simple example that you can use to engage in fantasy play with your children.
*Best idea I have heard yet is wearing your bathing suit in the bathtub and taking a trip to the "pool."
Chag Sameach!
While I love seeing children on Zoom please include SENSORY activities in your weekly routine. Exploring the world around them makes every moment a learning experience for kids. Don’t worry about having special bins and objects, there are lots of ways to make sensory tables that work. My favorite is extra long bath tub play and time with uncooked food. (rice, beans, pasta)
Less is more!
What children need now is not your best teaching. . .
Consider collecting some natural materials on your next walk. You can draw any animal's face for this project. Portrait work is a wonderful project that can be recreated over and over on the same piece of paper.
New game tomorrow! "I Spy" will be a fun opportunity for your child to notice more detail on their friend's screens.
