Mushing Malarkey
We are a small kennel nestled in the hills west of Fairbanks in Ester.
Had a great time chatting with Sean and Brendan! Give it a watch and you can listen to me recount our race history, brag about beating 4x Iditarod champs, and struggle with basic math. Geehaw!
Our guest this week is the owner of Mushing Malarkey kennel, Joe Taylor. He is a veteran of Iditarod, Kuskokwim 300, Copper Basin 300, Quest 300, and finished 2nd in the Two Rivers 200 and still super humble. Racing is just part of what he does with his relatively small yet diverse group of sled dogs. Joe talks about his trips in the arctic, exploring the Brooks Range in the "spring" with his team and much more.
In the intro, Sean complains to Brendan (who has a wife and kid and full time job) about feeling a bit "tired" and then ironically goes on to talk about the Yukon Quests, where it was in the -40's for most of the Alaska race. They also talk about some of the latest updates in the mushing Alaska scene, enjoy!

A warm spring kind of day. In just about a month or so the trails that the dogs have worked so hard to create and maintain will start to rot and melt away, leaving little evidence of our winter fun. Enjoy it while it lasts!
