I enjoy reading, like drawing, I find it meditative and also relaxing . When I was working on the initial concepts for these stone drawings, I happen to be reading books by Louann Brizendine, an American neuropsychiatrist who specializes in the relationship dynamics that result from neurobiology of male and female brains
Looking at the drawings now, I can see the influence of of the Feminine/Masculine dynamic. And according to scientist, everyone has a mix of both male and female circuitry, so my third drawing brings the two sets of stones together as a hybrid, just like most of our brains 🧠

I don't know what's more challenging to draw...tattoos, which are wrapped around the body and basically a drawing within a drawing or folds in fabric. They both make my brain work overtime 😵‍💫

A month's worth of work captured in 4 pictures. The last stage of the drawing usually takes about as much time as the first 3 stages combined. It's always misleading when you think you're almost finished, only to realize the details take forever! 😅

I may have gone through an Amy Adams phase a little while back 😅

Early on in my career, I rarely if ever, posted progress photos of my drawings. I think it was mostly because I didn't want people seeing the unfinished version of something I was working on. But when you get called a fraud enough times online after showing your work, you learn to take progress photos to prove the bozos wrong 😎

A drawing of a bag of Oreo cookies commissioned for the CEO of Mondelez International several years ago. The company's brand portfolio includes Ritz, Cadbury Dairy Milk and Oreo, which explains the logic behind this colourful subject.

Here's a drawing for the Aussies out there 🇦🇺. A coloured pencil drawing of a pack of Tim Tams commissioned by a client in 2020. Had a lot of fun with this one, especially trying to get that smooth milk chocolate texture. Needless to say the reference for this one didn't last very long in the cupboard lol 😅

A few coloured pencil drawings from many years ago. I was invited to submit work for a group show with food as the theme. Each one of these represented a member of my family so I called the series "Food Family" 😅
All three where 11x14", done using Prismacolor Premier coloured pencils on Stonehenge paper.

A selection of some of my own personal works from both group and solo exhibits from the last few years. I think it's pretty obvious that figures and portraits are my favourite subjects and that graphite is my favourite medium 😅

A coloured pencil portrait I did for a show several years ago. I usually do portraits in black and white but decided to challenge myself and created a series of 4 photorealistic portraits in colour. All of them were done using Prismacolor Premier Coloured pencils on Stonehenge paper. This particular one is called "Trance"

One of my more ambitious portraits to date, done last year for a client out west.
It's challenging enough to do one face, imagine the focus it takes to do four! 😅
