Since the market began 17 years ago, it has donated over £2500 to chosen national and local clubs and charities. Beneficiaries of the yearly donations are decided by the market committee and stall holders.

At our June market, two charities were awarded £250 each for their contribution to projects for all ages and groups in the Overton community: Test Valley Men's Shed and the Community Kitchen Garden. Thanks to all stall holders and market goers for making these donations possible.

Chris Truscott from the Overton Community Kitchen Garden said
“thank you so much. The donation will be a great help in setting up our poly-tunnel which will make a difference to the length of the growing season and provide a place to start seeds for an earlier than usual crop.”

Chair Nick Bowden from Test Valley Men’s Shed said “We are incredibly grateful for the £250 donation from our lovely Overton Saturday Market, Hampshire this morning!!! We will use it to fix the potholes on the driveway. The market has provided such a supportive environment for local small businesses, art and social groups and charities like us!”

Thanks to everyone who supports our wonderful market and for helping to make these donations possible

See you at the next market this Saturday!

We are supporting a whitepaper which has been delivered to the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs today. It calls for more to be done to tackle microplastic pollution, including mandating microplastic filters in new washing machines, as the most effective, near-term solution to reduce the release of microplastics in the environment.

With spring around the corner, our newly planted bulbs are starting to emerge on Overton Hill. We planted 1,000 bulbs in December to provide a food source for early pollinators. Even with a little colder weather forecast next week, the bulbs will continue to emerge. If you’re out for a walk on Overton Hill, take a photo and send it to us!.

This Saturday our volunteers are going to work on Overton’s Community Orchard. This is the perfect time to do some pruning to ensure a healthy fruit yield later this year.

As usual we meet at the orchard at 10.00am and finish by 12 midday. All equipment is supplied. If you would like to join our group of volunteers please come along. Your support is always very much appreciated.
