🚩 FIRE WATCH 🚩 Due to fire weather conditions, Osage Nation Wildland Fire Management will prohibit burning on restricted Indian lands on Tuesday, March 12 and Wednesday, March 13, 2024. Permits will be temporarily suspended during this time.

A No-Burn Day has been issued today, March 31st, by the Osage Nation due to current inclement weather. All Osage Nation burn permits are void until tomorrow.
RED FLAG WARNING | Dangerous fire weather conditions are moving into Eastern Oklahoma, including Osage County. A Red Flag Warning has been put into effect until 8 pm central time. Outdoor burning is not recommended as dry conditions, low humidity, and high winds can cause a fire to spread out of control quickly. A cold front is expected late tonight.

Osage Nation wildland fire has been busy this week with wild fires we would like to thank the help of all our volunteers fire departments for assisting us with these wild fires.
We are amidst fire season. Before performing your RX burns please take the time to notify your local fire departments.
Osage Nation Wildland fire had some training this last week. We did some extraction training of a injured firefighter on the fire line. With trainings we strive to improve our department to be the best. We continue to learn and improve our professionalism, tactics, and techniques for wildland fire fighting. Our goal is to provide the best service for our constituents while safely fighting fires.
Osage nation suppressed a wild fire 3 miles west of Okesa with the help of Osage hills, Pershing, and a couple privately owned fire trucks we would like to say thank you for the help from our volunteers and privately owned departments for the help with this wildfire.
Current fire weather is in extreme and severe.

Southwest winds will gust near 30 mph at times at the 33 ft level
across southeast Oklahoma this afternoon. Very hot conditions
coupled with afternoon Relative Humidity values in the 12 to 20 percent range and
high end fuel dryness will create an environment favorable for
rapid fire growth and extreme behavior.

EVENING
South winds will gust near 20 mph at times at the 33 ft level
across southeast Oklahoma this afternoon. Very hot conditions
coupled with afternoon Relative Humidity values in the 25 to 35 percent range and
high end fuel dryness will create an environment favorable for
rapid fire growth and extreme behavior. Any isolated
thunderstorms during the afternoon will be accompanied by erratic
and much stronger winds gusts. Across the remainder of eastern
Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas, afternoon RH values will fall
into the 20 to 30 percent range with very hot conditions once
again.
Warm and wind conditions today will create aggressive grassland
fire spread rates. Humdity values will remain above critical
values, however any fire starts could spread rapidly today
especially across portions of northeast Oklahoma. Any
controlled fires from recent days that have not been
full extinguished will be prime locations for renewed
fire development today. Winds will remain gusty into the
evening hours today impacting any ongoing fire suppression
efforts. All out door burning is strongly discouraged and if you see any smoke or wildfires call 911 to report them.
