Hand harvesting red clover is a labor of love. The tincture that you can make from hand selecting flowers is so different than a product you would buy that is harvested with tractors, as I am walking, picking which blossoms will be added to my basket, I am singing to thank the plants, noticing the beautiful details of the flowers and leaves, greeting the lady bugs and other visiting creatures, and praying that whoever uses this herbal remedy will find the healing they seek.
Intimate view of a gorgeous California Poppy flower…swoon!
Thanks for all the love and support! It was so nice seeing many people who have been buying my herbal remedies for more than 15 years! Fun to meet lots of new people too, some new to adding herbs to their daily routine and some who have been enjoying the benefits of herbs for years. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and took some herbal remedies home. The most popular tincture was Sleep Well Tincture. Hope you’re sleeping better now with the support of these local herbs. The most popular salve was Plantain Salve! So many of you have used plantain salve and wanted more for your backpack, purse, or bathroom medicine cabinet. I heard stories of bee stings, bug bites, slivers, poison oak…all helped by Plantain Salve.
Shop Local! Bring cash and an empty shopping bag! Come support local artists, farmers, and foragers! I look forward to the morel grilled cheese sandwiches! The music lineup looks fun and the weather should be great too!
Hawthorn, thank you for opening my heart to love, not romantic love, but a deep love for life that urges us to be compassionate and to wish the best for all beings. My heart is breaking for so many families being destroyed and endless suffering committed in the name of safety. How awful to think killing will lead to peace. Hawthorn, your thorns symbolize boundaries, teaching us to stand up in the face of violence and bad intentions. Please protect us and give us strength to endure. Hawthorn, your leaves remind me of a hamsa, a sign of protection, guarding us from evil. Please keep our loved ones safe. May we all know the feeling of relaxing in safety and abundance. Hawthorn, your flowers are just tiny buds today, symbolizing hope, for joy is coming soon, happiness will be blossoming one day. And we can see further into the future that these flowers will turn into nutritious abundant berries, nurturing us to spread love across the globe! May all beings know peace.
Your level of enthusiasm and interest in learning about herbs was really exciting! The children who attended the herb walk were particularly amazing! They got down close, touching and exploring, asking questions and quick to answer mine. When I was talking about ways to give back to the plants, one girl got down on the ground and started singing Twinkle twinkle little star to the Dandelions! That was great! Another kid was excited to buy more Plantain Salve because he already used up the last batch on mosquito bites and scraped knees. His mom said he carries the herbal first aid kit in his backpack on hikes. So wonderful!
Huge turnout for my herb walk at the Mount Shasta City Park. It was a chilly spring day in Northern California, but that didn’t stop the community from gathering to learn more about the local herbs!

Mount Shasta, California: Do you know about Harvest Connection? It's a small farmers market held on Mondays (from October through May) 12 to 1pm at Spring Hill Nursery and Gardens. Vendors set up in the parking lot. Most vendors prefer that you order in advance. There is google group email list that you can join to receive weekly announcements from vendors and you reply to place your order. Recently there has been winter squash, apples, shiitake mushrooms, honey, spring rolls, granola, fresh baked muffins, and of course herbal remedies from Bear Wallow Herbs!
Send me a message if you would like to be added to the group.
I haven't been on social media much lately, but all your favorite herbal remedies from Mount Shasta are still available. Go to www.bearwallowherbs.com to order. You can also send me a message through the Bear Wallow Herbs website contact page. Stay Wildy Healthy!

It’s harvest season!!
Every day my to do list includes watering the garden and harvesting herbs! Can’t believe this is my life! I’m so grateful to be living my dream. My work is so fulfilling! Thanks for supporting community herbalists! It is my pleasure to grow, harvest, and prepare the herbs that are Bear Wallow Herbs remedies that I use to take care of myself and my family and also my community, including you!
Let me know how I can help you feel better this summer!
This rose bush spent the winter under multiple feet of snow through many snow storms. I wasn’t sure how it would survive but now she is blooming and gorgeous. Plants are amazing and have so much to teach us!
Have you tried the Bear Wallow Herbs face scrub with rose petals? It also has stinging nettle leaves, mint leaves, and calendula petals.
It’s a dry face scrub that you moisten with water before you use it. The base is ground up oats and almonds, making it moisturizing and exfoliating. It has just a tiny bit of fine clay, to draw impurities out of the skin.
I love washing my face with this and I know my herbal face scrub has many loyal fans. Give it a try and let me know how it feels for you! Add it to your cart when you’re stocking up on herbal remedies! You can order it alone or as part of my skin care kit!

These bags are huge and will supply you with a lot of seaweed!
Kelp Seaweed:
* Can be eaten dried as a crunchy, salty snack, like chips, but with excellent health benefits! Even kids love to snack on these!
* Can be crumbled and sprinkled on salads, cooked vegetables, rice, popcorn, etc.
Sea Palm Seaweed:
* Can be eaten dried as a crunchy, salty snack, like chips, but with excellent health benefits! Even kids love to snack on these!
* Cooked sea palm is remarkably noodle-like in texture, and is excellent in pasta dishes, stir-fries, and salads. It cooks tender in about 30 minutes.
Seaweeds are by far the most concentrated natural food source of essential minerals, electrolytes, and trace elements (including iodine and selenium). Seaweeds also contain large amounts of vitamins (particularly B vitamins), carotenoids, chlorophylls, polyphenols, and antioxidants.
Scientific research suggests that eating seaweeds regularly can provide the following health benefits:
– promote healthy thyroid function and metabolism
– support a strong immune system
– stimulate tissue repair and regeneration
– improve gut flora and digestive health
– increase elimination of heavy metals, radioactive elements, dioxins, and PCBs
– decrease allergies, inflammation, and autoimmune conditions
– inhibit cancers and metastases
– reduce blood pressure, blood sugar, and LDL cholesterol
– prevent atherosclerosis and strokes
– limit herpes and HPV outbreaks
– normalize me**es and hormone levels

This is how good you feel sitting next to a big group of lemon balm plants! Similar experience can be found when tasting a Lemon Balm Tincture or Lemon Balm Glycerite! Yum.

Let’s see how the kids like having an herbalist/forager/gardener for a mom tonight!
Dinner includes parsley, chives, burdock root, and stinging nettles! I better make some noodles too so they don’t run away!
