People's Bus Service is a joint venture of NRTC and Govt. of Sindh that aims to facilitate all social classes of Karachi with a system that is efficient and sustainable both economically and environmentally.
The Project will have 250x buses (12m & 8.5m long) and NRTC will provide Operations & Maintenance (O&M) for all the bus routes for a duration of 10 years. The state of art 05x depots and 300x stations will be built and maintained which will be the property of Sindh Govt. as a part of the Peoples Bus Service Project.

The Sindh government has signed an agreement with Turkey and Chinese companies to run 250 buses on roads, as per reports.
The ambassadors of Turkey, China and Sindh’s Transport Minister Awais Shah attended a ceremony of signing the agreement.
The government has given eight billion rupees to the transport department for the project in a very difficult time, Awais Shah speaking on the occasion said.
“It is the first project of 250 intercity buses, while another agreement for 150 will also be finalized soon,” provincial minister added.

Mr. Awais Qadir Shah, Sindh Transport Minister has envisioned a transportation relief plan for the masses of Karachi entitled People’s Bus Service Project.
Sindh Government and NRTC have jointly signed the contract for the Sindh Intra District People’s Bus Service Project at a ceremony held in Karachi on October 27th, 2021.

The Sindh government aims to launch a new transport project in Karachi with 250 diesel-electric hybrid buses that are scheduled to arrive in the city in the next four months, announced Sindh Transport Minister, Owais Qadir Shah.
As per the minister’s statement, the transport department has received the required funds to launch the intra-city bus project, while the procedure to purchase the hybrid buses has already been completed.
The Sindh Cabinet, had last month, approved the purchase of 250 hybrid buses for Sindh Intra District People’s Bus Service. The bus transport system will operate in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpur Khas and Shaheed Benazirabad, a cabinet meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah was earlier briefed.
Sindh government had allocated 8 billion rupees for the project in fiscal year 2020-2021, while in 2021-2022, 6.4 billion rupees have been earmarked, the cabinet informed.
“In the first phase of the project, the buses will operate on seven Karachi routes,” the minister shared, adding that four bus depots will be allotted to run the operations.
Sindh Transport Minister Owais Qadir Shah announced that 250 diesel hybrid buses for the new bus project would reach Karachi in the next four months.
In a statement issued here, the provincial minister said the transport department has received funds for the intra-city bus project, adding that the procedure to purchase 250 diesel hybrid buses has been completed.
“In the first phase of the project, the buses will operate on seven Karachi routes,” the minister shared.
Shah said that four bus depots will be allotted to run the operations.
He further informed that the Turkish public transport company behind the bus project had visited the bus depot at UP Morr.
Speaking on Red Line BRT project, the minister said the groundbreaking of the project will be performed soon.

SMTA has planned an “Integrated Bus Operations” system as a solution to cater for the public transport demand in six major cities of the province namely Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Larkana and Shaheed Benazirabad.
