I believe the reason why the men’s basketball team the US is sending to the 2021 Olympics is playing so horrible is for multiple reasons.
1. These aren’t even the best American players we have to offer.
- Kevin Love did not deserve to be on this team, he’s not even the 4th best player on his team, the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers.
- Jerami Grant & Draymond Green both had a pretty good year, but none of them didn’t deserve a spot either.
- If everyone said “yes”, I would have Lebron, Steph, Harden, AD, Kawhi, PG, Butler, Tatum, Trae, Book, Mitchell, Dame, KD, Klay, & Bam or KAT (for size).
2. The players are hunting for fouls.
- In FIBA rules, you foul out once you commit your fifth foul (including both personal & technical fouls)
- Therefore, refs are more lenient when it comes to players playing physical.
- Today’s NBA is highly dependent on getting fouled to be able to shoot free throws. So if you limit those opportunities, American players can lose their rhythm and entire play style if they don’t shoot as many free throws as they usually do.
3. The roster construction is horrible.
- Draymond (PF/C) is the only true pass-first playmaker on the team.
- Dame, Jrue, & Bam can make plays for others, but aren’t relied upon to do so.
- Every other player is an isolation scorer.
4. International players are simply catching up to American players.
- 4/10 best NBA players are international players (Giannis - Greece, Luka - Slovenia, Joker - Serbia, & Embiid - Cameroon).
- With more opportunity, role players can expand their game and are heavily relied upon to carry a bigger offensive/defensive load, which allows them to showcase their hidden skills,

If Giannis Antetokounmpo or Trae Young aren’t healthy by the time either the Milwaukee Bucks or the Atlanta Hawks make it to the 2021 NBA Finals, is it really going to be worth watching, especially for the causal basketball fan? I mean die-hard NBA fans know how good Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, Khris Middleton, and John Collins are, but who else? ARE THERE GONNA BE ANYBODY WATCHING THESE FINALS??? WHAT DO YOU THINK???
Like I mentioned in my last video, there are dozens of NBA stars & key players getting injured in this year’s playoffs. And with the NBA media constantly giving the term “asterisk champion” to seemingly every NBA championship team that wasn’t the preseason favorites to win it all, is this season a legit contender to being considered the “true asterisk season”? WHAT DO YOU THINK???
This is the most chaotic NBA playoffs in history. If you were to tell me the NBA finals could be between the Phoenix Suns and the Atlanta Hawks (in which they both missed the playoffs last year), I’d tell you to stay off the weeeeeeduh!! But with all of these star players like Lebron, AD, Harden, & Kawhi being injured, it has given opportunities to young talent like Booker, Ayton, Trae, & Collins to showcase their skills, and forgotten talent like Chris Paul, Paul George, & Khris Middleton to remind the world why they’re some of the best in the league. WTH IS HAPPENING IN 2021???
We’ve all had those barbershop debates on who would win 1-on-1: Kobe or Lebron, Kobe or MJ, Lebron or KD, and the list goes on and on. But what if that could be a possibility? What if instead of going to 5-minute overtime periods after a tied game, each team would choose their best, most clutch players and they would play one-on-one till someone can’t top the other player’s score? WHAT DO YOU THINK???
The usual list of top players 25 years old & under has names like Trae Young, Jayson Tatum, Donovan Mitchell, Devin Booker, and Zion Williamson. And Luka Doncic seems to always be the consensus No. 1 player on the list. But with with the real possibility of Trae not only making it to the NBA finals, but winning the entire thing. We might have to revisit the list, and actually bring up the discussion of who is the best young superstar: Luka or Trae?
