The Belrose Ashes - Lionel Watts, Dec 27th 2020.
Its on..and it's pink.
Well it was only about 3 months ago but its seems like a very distant simpler time! We made the Kids with Cancer newsletter which is nice. Thanks again to everyone who took part or came along to watch.
Maybe we need a friendly rematch / party when things get back to normal.
Final charity total was $2,250.81, well done everyone.

A final special thank you to this guy Dean Clarke , Deano helped organise the event, got the awesome Capital Brewing Co. on board and got the England shirts made up. He was the 12th man on the day and then made and sold a mountain of his world famous Roti Curry pies with diamond geezer Tesh to raise a crazy amount of money. Thanks Deano, couldn't of done it without you old boy.
Well what a day, 1 hamstring, 1 calf muscle, cuts and bruises, a bit of sunburn and now a pretty serious hangover.
Congratulations to the England team for a great win (arise Sir Clive!). More importantly a huge thank you to everyone who took part and who came down to show their support. It looks like we've raised over $2k for the charity which is pretty unbelievable. Special shout out to Julian and Alicia from the fabulous Wakehurst Redback Cricket Club for umpiring for us so well, Nev Dowdall for keeping score in all the chaos and to Edgar Travierso for all his help and enthusiasm.
We'll be back same time next year! Thanks everyone.
Caton commented..
"We're raring to go, tactically we've gone for a team with solid foundations and a few flair players thrown in mix. We've been working hard in the nets for several months now and I think many of the lads are peaking just at the right time. We're looking forward to showing our antipodean friends how to play this great game of ours."
So here`s confirmation of the England squad to take on the Aussies, controversy as both of the infamous Clarke / McManus families are included, a late recall for spinner Jatz Singh and a place for all rounder Spencer Leach who has assured the selectors his hell raising days are behind him.
According to a press release there’s an England squad announcement coming in about 1 hour...
Australian Captain Edgar Travierso was asked to comment..
“We are looking forward to the inaugural Belrose Ashes match vs the old enemy. After many years of friendly sporting rivalry in the Forest, it’s going to be great to take the battle onto the pitch. Selection wise, we have a great mix of experience and youth... (both age and ability). We are confident of bringing the Urn home, where it belongs.”
Here it is..some bold choices, a few names caused quite a stir from some reporters but the Captain seems very confident and is about to take questions..
Live press conference anytime soon. Australia to announce their starting 11 to face England..
