The coffee machine, the work horse. It brings cups of pure liquid gold ☕️

Now, I won’t lie this area gets very messy in busy periods 🙈 coffee grinds get everywhere. And I mean everywhere 😂

The picture was a gift from my mother in law, and I feel it fits in perfectly with what I wanted to create.

I love the little corner shelf and green back drop.

Sadly it’s a bit wonky now as my boys leaned too hard on the back wall and now it’s all broken 🙈
The downside to having a caravan from the 70’s

This week I’ll be sharing different areas of Iris that make me smile.

First up, it’s my sticker on the front of the caravan.
The logo was hand drawn for me (it’s me if you’ve never noticed!) wearing one of my favourite dresses.

The actual name was my husbands idea too.

I’ve rose garlands all around the window, recycled from the previous owner and in the winter months I put on the fairy lights that also surround the window.

Every time I see the logo I smile, that’s me and my name

Bakes and treats.

Did you know that I make all the treats on offer from Iris? Including the sausage rolls (not pictured)
Everything is made fresh, from scratch by me.
From stuffed cookies, to brownies, to thick cookies, loaf cakes, truffles and muffins there’s plenty of options to treat yourself to.

The only problem is which would you pick?

Please note I’ve a nut allergy so can’t bake with peanuts or other nuts. Nutella is the only thing I can cope with 🫠

Dreams…

Stamping cups last night (one of my least favourite things to do) and I was thinking how I didn’t want to be doing it.
Then I stopped, saw my face, my logo, my name on this little 8oz cup that money from my business has bought and I thought wow. This is me, this is my thing.

When you buy from the little guys you help support a dream, a family, a life.

So here’s to stamping many more cups

Let’s talk selling out…

Is it a good thing?
Is it a bad thing?

At the weekend I sold out completely of all stock (milk included on the Saturday). On the Sunday I came with double the amount of milk, milk alternatives and double the amount of bakes…
I sold out again of all bakes within 4hrs of opening.

So, is it a good thing?
Hype wise yes- creates that buzz, get there fast before she sells out.
Profit wise, reputation wise can it be damaging? Potentially yes.
I try hard not to let it happen often, it can be hard figuring out how much to take, purchase and bake. As a small business the margins are small, I don’t have endless amount of money or space to purchase huge amounts of stock.

If I’m lucky enough to be invited back next year I’ll be going all out and tripling my stock

Iris might have been called tatty at the weekend 😂 but the brews were not slated…

Yesterday one went like this.. “aye up lass that flat white was spot on. Had one before from another coffee van and it was wishy washy. Wish I’d have come to you first”

We might be “tatty” but as serve a mighty fine brew ☕️

The coffee journey….

From freshly roasted, curtesy of Burtonwood Coffee Co., to ground, dosed and dialled in by me. I can guarantee you a cup of liquid gold with notes of caramel, dark chocolate and citrus.
It’s a well balanced coffee and a firm favourite with the crowds.

During trade I am constantly monitoring the pull of the espresso, changing the grind when needed to ensure that every shot pulled is the best and consistent.

Why does that matter? Because in a changing environment of trading mobile the weather can affect the beans and grind, what works in the morning might not work come mid afternoon.

It is what sets us apart from the chain stores and the others who don’t have the same passion.

When a customer comes back to tell me that’s the best coffee he’s had in a long time it’s the biggest compliment and flex 💪

Served with cream and marshmallows, why not add a shot of espresso from Burtonwood Coffee Co. Or a shot of syrup, I’ve plenty to pick from just ask 😉

National tea day today 🫖

Whether it’s a hot cup of tea on a cold day or one of my special ice cold drinks- such as Berry Fresher you can rest assured that they’re made with care and love from a small, uk based supplier.

Twist teas provide an excellent all round everyday brew and also do some spectacular herbal blends.

The full iced drinks range will be back soon, with some old favourites and some new.

For now, let’s brew and forget those worries for just a few minutes longer
