What a beautiful community we are building here at Wonder Learning Center. 🦋
All powered by individuality, respect and play! ♥️
Children are born natural learners. They learn how to do SO much by just observing and trying by themselves. 🙌🏼
Who said we need to tell them what to do all the time?
What we need is to let them be!
Just think about how they learn to walk or talk… 😮
Together, let’s empower children to keep doing what they know how to do best, LEARN…. by playing. 🤸🏻♀️
Join us at this incredible journey!

Because not only children do the learning… 😝
We attended this AMAZING play-based learning virtual summit.
So much valuable information that backs up the direction we are taking and gives us more fuel. 💥
Thank you .rb.peterson for putting together such an incredible event!
Are you a fan of play-based learning?
This week I captured this perfect example of mixed-age play… 🤩
Can you see how powerful it can be? 🙌🏼
Some things happening:
For younger child: 👦🏼
- enjoys the ride
- pretends to ride the car
- observes the older child when she struggles
For older child:👧🏼
- Takes care of the younger child
- Tries to problem solve when the car gets stuck
- Modeling for young child how to take turns (at the end she says its my turn now)
🌟”Letting our children experience rich, mixed age play is powerful, even essential for them in their early years, and may be one of the most valuable gifts we can give them.” 🌟
What else do you observe ?
Sometimes we forget that children are NOT mini adults, and that the most important thing for us to do is understand and respect their individual development. 🙏🏼
They will fight, and hit , and yell and climb everywhere, but that is part of them learning to understand how the world works, and most importantly how their inner self works too. 🧐
YOU (the adult) be patient, keep your hands to yourself, keep low voices and model how to sit and stand in line and everything else.😉
We are BEYOND EXCITED for this school year! 🙌🏼
Our second class is filling up!💥💥
Thank you parents for your trust! 🤩🤩
Don’t forget we are a microschool ,so we have limited spots!

WELCOME NABILA !💥
👉🏻Remember teachers are KEY in the development of EVERY CHILD.
That is why at Wonder, we have teachers who are highly educated and are completely fluent in English.
Once the rainy season hits in our country, it becomes very hard to provide opportunities for outdoor play. 😢
⚠️So… we ABSOLUTELY NEED to take advantage of summer and allow children to spend as much time possible playing outside! ⚠️
Being outside is so liberating for our mind and body! It can be very calming and relaxing. 🌿
Also, when children play outside they have more space to be expansive on the physical movements. They are free to run, jump, climb, shout and make noise. 🏃♂️🤸🏻♀️
👉🏻Research is crystal clear on how beneficial outdoor play is for children.
All the activity & movement encourages brain growth and improves children’s attention and memory; meaning it positively impacts learning 💥
Today finishes our very VERY first week of summer camp! 🤩
One FULL of PLAY and DISCOVERY. 🤸🏻♀️✋🏼
My heart raced every morning as the kiddos entered down the hall. So much excitement & nervousness, yet felt so ready for all the challenges and beautiful moments! ☺️
Happy to report it was incredible in every single way! Some kids cried, others laughed , and most importantly we were there for them in anyway they needed. We held their hand every step of the way (and their caregivers as well because it’s a transition for them too!)🤝
Thank you to all the families that trusted us with their little treasures 🌟.
We can’t wait for more ,and to welcome all the new children and their families next week! 🙌🏼
🖐🏼Messy play area is one of our favorites spots in play-based learning.
🪣We have a large space with a big sand box and mud/sand kitchens to support different kinds of play.
Apart from the fact that sand play is super fun for most kids, it has so many educational benefits too! ✅
1. Early math concepts (Counting,volumen,comparing,
2. Science (different forms of sand and mud, how materials work)
3. Motor development ( pouring, dumping, digging, carrying, shaping and creating)
4. Eye-hand coordination (creating and building, transfering)
5. Language and vocabulary (new words and concepts)
6. Problem solving (how to build something, what happens when it gets destroyed etc)
7. Creativity (freedom to create)
8.Social skills (sharing, negotiations, respecting etc)
Don’t mind if your child comes back home covered in sand or mud from head to toe! Its a sign they’ve been learning! 💥
In the alternative education world there are many different philosophies & different schools.
👉🏻Here are a couple of the most popular/known ones and their most important characteristics.
It’s a curious thing that many of these are not new! 😱
They have been around for so many years, but their roots are so respectful towards children that they continue to be great choices for education. 🙌🏼
If you know more about any of this or others comment below‼️
I know it’s really cool if your child learns tons of numbers, the abc’s and all those things in preschool.
One of my sons started counting the other day and I won't lie, I was over the moon with awe and excitement! 😍
BUT, the truth is that these things are not the most important YET‼️
What preschool aged children should really be practicing is the following:
1️⃣SOCIAL SKILLS: Preschool is children’s first opportunity to develop these skills and gain valuable experience interacting with other children. It allows them to practice teamwork, sharing, taking turns and solving conflicts.
2️⃣EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
During the early years children experience a vast range of emotions that may be overwhelming and difficult for them. In preschool there are many opportunities for children to understand what they are feeling and why they are feeling it. Besides, teachers are great at supporting children in this delicate time
3️⃣INDEPENDENCE:
In preschool children start practicing & learning how to take care of their own basic needs, such as putting on their shoes, setting up their lunches, washing their hands etc. This fosters independence, which is very important for their development.
4️⃣FINE & GROSS MOTOR SKILLS:
In preschool, it’s essential that children engage in activities that develop their body muscles. Motor skills allow children to perform basic everyday tasks (dressing, eating, jumping, crawling etc) and are extremely important as they set the stage for many important things like writing & walking.
5️⃣COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Learning to communicate is key for children’s social and academic success. Rich stimulation of communication skills (spoken and body) is important for their development and helps them, from an early age, to understand and express thoughts, needs, feelings, and information.
What else do you consider essential for preschool aged children to learn❓
Beyond excited to be opening my dream school very soon! 🙏🏼
PLAY IS THE WAY! 🙌🏼

2022 we are sooo ready! 🌈
When something isn’t working, we change it right?
And the most natural thing is to look for alternatives right?
Well… it should be EXACTLY the same for education.
For so long I’ve felt like we’ve been afraid of the word “alternative” in education and I wonder why. 🤨
A. Is it because we were told, too many times, that children who attended these schools were failures?
B. Is it because we were/are afraid to go against what everyone’s kids are doing?
C. Maybe both?
👇🏻
Good news is: ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION IS ON THE RISE! (and no, im not making it up).
Its so exciting to know that so many people around the world are starting to understand why these schools are so valuable and why they are becoming the BEST bet for the future of our kids! 🙌🏼
So WELCOME to choosing ALTERNATIVE. 👏🏼
Remember…
“Play is not a luxury, play is a necessity.” 🧠
Let them play, a LOT!
Wondering about our name?
Let me tell you all about it…
I wasn’t just looking for a cute name for a preschool, but a name that in a way represented my educational philosophy. This was VERY important for me.
Pretty hard huh? 🥴
I searched the web, made lists , mix and matched ideas, but nothing seemed to click.
After months and months of brainstorming and thinking about this perfect name, it it hit me💥
- WONDER -
For me, meaningful learning initiates from a doubt , a thought, a desire to know, and/or a question.
When we wonder, we become curious and allow ourselves to explore. When we explore, we understand. When we understand ,we learn. 🥳
To me this is what education is about.
It was not easy to connect all this dots, but ultimately I did and im so in love with it! 😍
READY to give that name the action it deserves!
Now im wondering , what do YOU think? 😀
You want your child to thrive in tomorrow’s world❓
Let them play- A LOT‼️
Why??
👇🏻
“The experience of play changes the connections of the neurons at the front of your brain. It is those changes in the prefrontal cortex during childhood that help wire up the brain’s executive control center, which has a critical role in regulating emotions, making plans and solving problems. So, play is what prepares a young brain for life, love and schoolwork.”
-Sergio Pellis (researcher)
Play is not only the most natural way for children to learn, but it also fuels positive attitudes like imagination, curiosity, enthusiasm and ultimately inspires a lifelong love of learning 🙌🏼💥
🔈We are like no other!!!
1. We run a true & organic play-based program. 🤸🏻♀️
2. We are a very small school focusing on quality and personalization for each child. 👤
3. We mix ages starting at 2 years of age, mimicking children’s natural environments, boosting development.👧🏻🧒🏽
4. Our teachers are passionate and highly trained. 🤓

WELCOME CARO !💥
👉🏻Teachers are KEY in the development of EVERY CHILD.
That is why at Wonder, we have teachers who are highly educated and are completely fluent in English.
📚So many books on my shelf, but these 3 are my top! 💥
1. FREE TO LEARN
In this book, Gray goes way back to hunter-gatherer societies to explain and help us understand that humans have always had a natural interest and drive to learn and how play was the foundation of the existence of those societies.
2. CREATIVE SCHOOLS
Sir Ken Robinson lays out for us why education has become a global issue.
He offers many insightful research and ideas on how to make learning for kids more relevant to the world they are and will be living in.
3. LIFELONG KINDERGARTEN
Resnick questions why kindergarten has become like the rest of school and not the rest of school like kindergarten.
He explains why it is crucial to engage young children in creative experiences so that we can help them better prepare for the future ahead.
