Our January 2023 Athletes of the Month are Gene and Margaret Berg of New Hampshire, a couple that really gets around. We actually saw their Airstream travel trailer first and had to find the RV couple to see what the experience was like.

🏆 The 2022 National Senior Games presented by Humana, was recognized as the 2022 Champions of Economic Impact in Sports Tourism Award by Sports Destination Management Magazine.

Our Games generate a great deal of economic benefits for the host city. This year we estimate the Greater Fort Lauderdale region saw $30 million in economic impact.

This is not the first time we have earned this award, but it feels just as good every time. An extra special thanks to Sports Destination Management for the great work they do to promote the event industry.

Volunteer for the Games – National Senior Games Association The NSGA is a non-profit organization dedicated to motivating active adults to lead a healthy lifestyle through the senior games movement.

"Gender equality must become a lived reality."

Resultz Digital Consulting pays homage to those courageous women who helped breakdown gender barriers in sports and in all facets of life.

This is and that prompted us to ask “Who is the greatest senior female athlete in history?” It took a nanosecond to select Philippa “Phil” Raschker for this distinction.

Besides scores of National Senior Games records and rankings, Phil has 109 Masters World Championships medals--79 gold, 22 silver, and eight bronze. She has set more than 200 world and national age-group records in sprint, hurdle, jump, heptathlon, and pentathlon events. And amazingly, she’s the only 50+ athlete ever to be a top-five finalist for the prestigious James E. Sullivan Award that recognizes the nation's top amateur athlete-and she did it TWICE.

She withdrew from competition to care for her mother in 2015, and we still hope she might be motivated to get back into the Games. Regardless, her legacy will continue to inspire older athletes. We salute you, Phil Raschker!

2022 is a pivotal year not only in sports, but in hisitory in general. In 1972, (50 years ago) was signed into law barring federally funded education programs and activities from discriminating on the basis of s*x. Its enactment tasked public schools with creating equitable opportunities for women to participate in sports, investing in scholarships for men and women proportional to their participation, and treating male and female student athletes equally. It’s a revolutionary policy that shaped gender equity in education and sports. Fifty years later, Title IX is still evolving.
