What is AIP diet and is it easy to follow it?

In my previous post I shared with you ten of my strategies in order to alleviate my autoimmune disease symptoms. One  which I consider the most important is ✨The AIP diet✨.

The AIP diet aims to reduce the inflammatory processes in our body and regulate its immune system giving it the chance to cope with  the autoimmune disease and heal by itself.

This diet is an elimination diet, which means that certain kinds of food are not allowed during the time we follow it. This doesn't have to discourage you as I can assure you ( speaking from my personal experience) that this diet can make wonders to the way you feel.🙂🍀

These are the foods that are strictly forbiden for a period of between 30 and 90 days ( the longer, the better🙂):

❌ Grains
❌Dairy
❌Eggs
❌Nuts and seeds
❌Legumes
❌Sugar
❌Nightshades,such as tomatoes,potatoes, peppers and eggplants
❌ Alcohol
❌Food additives
 
I know that this list might seem a bit too much and you probably think just what I thought months ago: " What on earth am I going to eat?"🙀 You will be amazed how many delicious and nutritional things are there for you to incorporate in your✨ Future Healthy Diet✨

✨Frankincense resin water- a magic drink✨

The use of Boswellia resin for spiritual and medical purposes dates back to ancient civilizations.
The Frankincense oil is considered the king of oils👑 and that explains why it is one of the most expensive ones. In order to fully benefit from it, it must be an organic oil that you can not only apply to your skin or breathe in but also add to your drinks or food.
Let me give you an idea
💡 how to do this at home by yourself which will definitely be a cheaper but really good alternative 🙂

But first please get familiar with some of the benefits of the Frankincense❤️

🔖-Helps with inflammation ( so helpful if you suffer from Hashimotos)

🔖-improves joint health

🔖-prevents digestive problems

🔖-helps in stress relief

🔖-increases memory and helps preventing symptoms related to dementia

🔖- improves skin quality and complexion

🔖- treats and prevents respiratory problems

❤️So many reasons to drink Frankincense resin water and so easy to make:

All you need is 2 or 3 resins of Frankincense which you put in a litre of purifier water. (It is better to use a glass bottle) Leave it for 24 hours and then simply start drinking.🙂 You can use it like your ordinary water during the day or just drink less if you can't tolerate the smell and taste.( it gets stronger with time)
💠I keep adding water in the bottle and keep drinking while the water is still whitish. Once this white colour is gone, that means that you have used all the goodies that the resin contains and you need to add new ones.

💚The power of celery juice💚

Celery was first grown in the Mediterranean and was used as medicine by ancient civilizations. Today celery is used with soups and stews in cooking as it brings a great taste and a delicious smell to dishes. But its use does not end here.
Due to its great benefits, it has recently been considered as one of the" superfoods".
Drinking a glass of celery juice on an empty stomach in the morning, Could:

✔️Reduce inflammation (so helpful if you have an autoimmune condition)
✔️Promote hydfation

✔️Lower blood pressure

✔️ Relieve migraines

✔️ Relieve constipation

✔️Reduce bloating

✔️Helps eczema

✔️Heals acne

✔️increase your sexual drive

If you suffer from Hashimotos, you probably have already experienced some of these symptoms.

Give your celery juice a try!🍀🙏
Drink it early in the morning on empty stomach and try not to eat or drink anything after for at least half an hour.

🥦🍓🫐🥕I choose Healthy foods every day. I now crave only foods that increase my wellbeing.🙏

🌼I used to remind myself that when eating or drinkin,I either feed my autoimmune disease or fight it. Now I don't even have to think about it anymore. My body got used to the healthy food, it doesn't neither want nor tolerate the food that is bad for me.

How to get rid of the orange skin-cheap and easy beauty hack⭐

Summer is here.☀️🐚🌊
And it's time for your dreamed holiday.💙
It's also time to put on your lovely swim suit👙 and head off to the beach.
🙂Don't let that orange skin puts you down! You can easily get rid of it at home. All you need is 3 easy ingredients to prepare a mixture and some perceverance.🙂

You like coffee? Your skin does too.❤️

Start collecting coffee grounds. Add some sea salt and coconut oil to it. Mix it well.
Apply some of this mixture on the affected arreas and massage vigorously. It's best to do it while you take a shower. It might get a bit messy.😉
After you wash the coffee grounds away, make sure you apply coconut oil on the area and massage again.

You skin will feel nice and smooth right from the first treatment.Make sure to do this everyday in order to achieve good results!🙂

🌱Nettle and Spring Onion Risotto🌱

💚(Nettle - the superfood)💚

Nettles are great for your AIP diet. If you feel tired because of your autoimmune disease, they can give you great energy. They contain🔹 iron 🔹 and are successfully used to treat 🔹anemia🔹.But that's not all. They are considered 🔹anti-inflammatory 🔹which is so important if you are trying to fight Hashimotos.

❗Please be aware that this meal is suitable for you if you have reintroduced rice in your diet.❗

🌿For my risotto I used fresh nettles which I was lucky to pick myself.🌿 ( be careful and use gloves if you decide to pick your own nettles as they sting)

✨What ingredients I used for my risotto:
1. Nettles
2.Spring onions
3. Mint
4. Rice
5. Salt
6.Red pepper
7.Olive oil

🌿I washed and soak the nettles in cold water for a while.

🌿I cut all the stems from the leaves and blanched them in a pot of boiling water.

🌿I cut them. I also washed and cut my other green ingredients- spring onions and mint.

I used a pot and laid different layers of all the ingredients starting with nettles, followed by spring onions, mint, then I sprinkled some of the rice, a pich of salt and red peppers and finally add some olive oil. Then repeat the same procedure until I have used all my ingredients. When I did this, I added some water. ( rice to water ratio is 1 to 4)

❗Simmer at low heat!

🧡7 things I do every day to fight Hashimoto's

1️⃣Start my day with a nice healthy smoothie 🥤

(You could really experiment here but my favourite one is: banana, apple,spinach and berries).🙂

2️⃣Drink lots of water during the day.

Water is needed by each cell to work. Here are just some of the evidence- based health benefits if drinking plenty of water:

⭐ significantly affects energy levels and brain function (most people with hashimitos don't feel energetic and get brain fog, so this might really help)
⭐may help prevent and treat headaches
⭐may help constipation
⭐can aid weight loss

3️⃣Read some positive quotes or thoughts🙂

Positive thinking is really important for healing.🌻Our body hears everything that your mind says. That's why- Stay Positive!🙂❤️

4️⃣ Take a walk

Fresh air combined with even a short 30 minutes walk every day can strengthen your bones, reduce excess body fat,boost muscle power and endurance. It reduces stress and improves sleep.
So steal some time just for yourself every day and have a walk and when doing it have this in mind: You do it because your body needs it and loves it and when you look after your body,it notices it and thanks you in return by making you feel Great.🙂

🍀When our body is happy, we are much closer to healing our autoimmune disease.🍀

5️⃣Eat delicious and healthy meals compatible with my AIP diet. Give up those inflammatory foods that make you feel bad. This worked wanders for me.❤️

I have to be honest with you and tell you that I spend more time in the kitchen than I used to before I was diagnosed with Hashimotos I just love experimenting now and inventing my own delicious AIP recipes of meals, dips,salads and cookies.And l love them not only because they are so tasty but because this kind if food makes me feel great- no headaches,no brain fog any more, so much more energetic and relaxed.🍀

6️⃣Do some exercise

I suffered from severe pains in my wrist and elbow bones. They disappeared once I started training using dumbbells.

7️⃣Do anti- stress therapy

💕Your body is a temple but only if you treat it like one.💕

🍪 Crispy gluten free cookies you just can't resist🍪

🔹These healthy gluten free cookies are so yummy, easy and quick to make that you will fall in love with them.

🔹Today was one of those days in which I could just kill for something sweet. So I found this super easy recipy which turned out to be a success so I decided to share it with you.

🔹What you need:
⭐ 3 egg yolks
⭐100 grams of liquid honey
⭐3 spoonfuls of coconut oil
⭐250 grams of rice flour
⭐1 tea spoonful of baking powder ( gluten free)
⭐1 vanilla powder

❗ Be aware that AIP diet does not allow rice or eggs. So this recipe would be suitable for you if you have reintroduced them after your AIP diet ❗

🔹This is how to make the cookies:

✔️mix the yolks, coconut oil, honey, baking powder and vanilla using a wooden spoon.
✔️keep adding flour until the dough is not sticky any more
✔️form nice balls with your hand and flatten them
✔️use baking paper and bake at 170 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes

♥️I added some carob flour which gave my cookies the lovely smell and taste of dark chocolate ♥️

❤️You are a big fan of aromatic coffee and drinking it early in the morning brings you a great joy and gives you a lift.❤️❤️

Have you heard of the 🌿chicory root plant🌿? It has been my great coffee alternative since I started following AIP protocol diet. It tastes similar to instant coffee, it has the bitter taste of coffee and it smells delicious.☕✨
💙And that's not all- it is full of goodies for your body- vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.💙 🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹And it so easy to make- just boil the kettle, put 2-3 tea spoonfuls of chicory root powder in your favourite cup and pour the water in. 🐝My detox Honey Face Massage for a glowing skin🍯

🌿Since I was diagnosed with Hashimotos, I decided to change the way I live and focus on the healthy alternatives in everything that surrounds me. I started eating following the AIP diet, tried to reduce stress using different techniques,got rid of all chemicals and detergents that I used at home and last but not least I started using homemade beauty masks and creams which I made by myself using only organic products.🌿

🍃We all know that skin is the biggest part of our body. Anything we apply on it goes straight to our blood.That's why we need to be extra careful with the cosmetics we use and shouldn't suffocate it with harmful chemicals that are so harmful for us.🍃

That's why I opted for 🍯Honey🍯.Knowing all its benefits, I knew I couldn't go wrong with it.

🧡Benefits of honey for skin and face:🧡

🐝 moistures the skin deeply
🐝acts as a pore cleaner

🔘Detox honey face massage🔘

🧡I use dark organic honey
✳️Wash face and neck area

✳️gently apply a thich layer of honey on your face and neck

✳️let it stay on your skin for 5-10min. and then begin the massage.Gently press your skin with your fingers and quickly lift them off. It is simple but it will be working the underlaying muscles in your face and neck.

💚🥒My easy recipe for homemade pickled cucumbers🥒💚

✳️Pickles- the gut superfood✳️

✔️If you suffer from Hashimotos or any other autoimmune disease,you probably know that very often it is caused by gut problems like leaky guts, for instance.
✔️Our guts need special attention if we want to alleviate the symptoms of our autoimmune disease.We know that fermented food has probiotic properties. I am a big fan of fermented pickles which are extremely good for you because they contain benefitial strains of bacteria which can contribute to the population and diversity of our gut microbe.

✨🥒💚Here is my easy recipe for homemade pickled cucumbers🥒✨

You need:
📍Small fresh cucumbers
📍Jars
📍sea salt
📍dill seeds
📍mastard seeds
📍water
📍a strong alcohol such as brandy or vodka

✳️Your jars might be of different size than the ones I use, so I will put the proportions this way:
You need 1 spoonful of sea salt and one spoonful of alcohol , one spoonful of mastard seeds and one spoonful of dill seeds per one litre. If for instance the size of you jar is 3 litres, you need to put 3 spoonfuls of all the ingredients in the jar and add water.
❗ It is important to wash the cucumbers very well and pinch them using a fork here and there to make tiny holes so the water and all the ingredients can easily go inside.
❗ The use of alcohol in the recipe might seem strange to you but believe me- it makes wonders to preserving the crunchy taste of your pickles.
❗Seal the jars very well, use lids that don't allow any air to go in the jar. For the first few days, shake the jars two- three times and let the stay upside down. 🙂

🥑 Avocado-🐊" the alligator pear"!

🥑✨If you are a big fan of your morning toast and really miss it while you follow your AIP diet, then maybe you can try my substitute- a toasted piece of sweet potato spread with a yummy creamy avocado dip.✨🥑

For the dip you need:
1.- 2 or 3 ripe avocados
2.-lemon juice
3.-olive oil
4.-a pinch of himalayan salt
5.- dill
6.- a little bit of garlic ( if you tolerate it)

💚You put all the ingredients in a blender and make it nice and smooth. And Voala- you've got the easiest, quickest and yummiest dip that can fill your body with so many vitamins and minerals and give you a great start of the day.🙂💚

🍀If you are determined to change your diet and the way you feel, don't forget to include avocado in your healthy meals. You will be amazed how good for you avocado actually is.
It is a great source of vitamin C,E,K and B-6, riboflavin, niacin,folate, pantothenic acid, magnesium and potassium.🍀

💕Avocado is great for beauty too. You can use it on your face to make your skin radiant and applying it on you hair you can make it glossy and hydrated.💕

How Hashimotos made me a better person🙏🙂

Being diagnosed with Hashimoto's might scare you at first. Not only because it's an autoimmune disease that can make your body works against you, but also because you can have it for life.If you are a person who only likes and follows convetional medicine, then you might get to a dead end.

Hashimoto's is closely related to our emotions, perceptions and understanding of the world and our place in it. We have to take some time and reconsider out priorities- what really makes us stressed and is there anything we can do to avoid it. In order to start feeling better, we need to make our body belive that it is not being attacked but it is being looked after.

This is how I persuaded my body that I took care of it and in return it made me feel so much better. This is my list for becoming a better person:

1.Feed my body with delicious but healthy meals which are carefully selected and cooked in accordance with the Autoimmune diet protocol.

2 .Don't let my body starve and skip meals.

3.Let my body rest when it needs it. Do not give it coffee instead.

4.Let my body and brain relax using different kinds of relaxation methods- music, yoga, aroma therapy and others.

5.Don't work more than necessary. Be selfish- treat myself .

6.Don't cover my body with excesive amount of make up. Let it breathe!.

7.Exercise and give my body oxygen, strenth and good spirit.

8.Be positive and grateful for what I have!

9.Be a better person to myself and to everyone!
