Thirty-Three

Birth, like death
Is just a change
From one old state to something new.
How many times have I been born
Since coming through my mother’s womb?
How many times have I faced death
With parts of me engaged no more?
How often death of one I loved?
How often death of one I chose?
And do we get the pieces back
When death comes for a part we want?
I think we can, though never to
Return in whole to where we’ve been.
Our parts come back – they resurrect
Into a life that’s new and changed.
A resurrection or rebirth
Along with death
Of old, worn pain.
And so today, I rise again
Intent on giving death a chance,
To be reborn as something new
Free from the chains
This life has set.

I saw this twig and it reminded me of... me. The last 10 years of my life have felt like a dark, winter season. Not the shiny, Christmasy, moonlight on snow kind of winter. The lonely, cold, empty, endless kind. I feel like I've been growing like this twig, without any greenery or flowers to show for all my growth. And yet, *I've been growing*

It hasn't felt pretty. I haven't felt pretty. But when I saw this twig lying on the sidewalk I was immediately struck by how beautiful it is. And then the message hit. I'm beautiful, too. And I always have been. Through this long winter season, I never stopped being beautiful.

Hello, Internet world of social media!!!!

This is me showing up in a way I hope will lead to inspiring new connections, as I share personal insights into who I am and what I do.

It's kinda weird how scary it feels to put myself up on social media (or is it not weird??). I've spent a lot of my life hating on technology because I felt it gets in the way of deep human connection and that connection matters a lot to me! However, my perspective has been changing over the past few years and I'm exploring a new belief around technology: a belief that technology can become a vehicle for discovering some really awesome relationships that I wouldn't be able to find without it.

My deep desire to connect authentically drew me to 's challenge and I'm ready (I hope!) to jump in! I hope you'll join me over the next 30 posts as we both learn more about me (🎉) and what my experiences and lessons learned can offer you on your own life journey.
