Sharing from a friend—can you relate?
I asked a friend who has crossed 70 & is heading towards 80 what sort of changes he is feeling in himself? He sent me the following:
1. After loving my parents, my siblings, my spouse, my children and my friends, I have now started loving myself.
2. I have realized that I am not “Atlas”. The world does not rest on my shoulders.
3. I have stopped bargaining with vegetable & fruit vendors. A few pennies more is not going to break me, but it might help the poor fellow save for his daughter’s school fees.
4. I leave my waitress a big tip. The extra money might bring a smile to her face. She is toiling much harder for a living than I am.
5. I stopped telling the elderly that they've already told that story many times. The story makes them walk down memory lane & relive their past.
6. I have learned not to correct people even when I know they are wrong. The onus of making everyone perfect is not on me. Peace is more precious than perfection.
7. I give compliments freely & generously. Compliments are a mood enhancer not only for the recipient, but also for me. And a small tip for the recipient of a compliment, never, NEVER turn it down, just say "Thank You.”
8. I have learned not to bother about a crease or a spot on my shirt. Personality speaks louder than appearances.
9. I walk away from people who don't value me. They might not know my worth, but I do.
10. I remain cool when someone plays dirty to outrun me in the rat race. I am not a rat & neither am I in any race.
11. I am learning not to be embarrassed by my emotions. It’s my emotions that make me human.
12. I have learned that it's better to drop the ego than to break a relationship. My ego will keep me aloof, whereas with relationships, I will never be alone.
13. I have learned to live each day as if it's the last. After all, it might be the last.
14. I am doing what makes me happy. I am responsible for my happiness, and I owe it to myself. Happiness is a choice. You can be happy at any time, just choose to be!
I decided to share this for all my friends. Why do we have to wait to be 60 or 70 or 80, why can't we practice this at any stage and age?
Do you ever hear a normal, everyday phrase and all of a sudden you’re singing a song with lyrics that include that phrase? This blog is a lighthearted look at just that! Check it out at https://drawnbyinspiration.com/inspiration-is-a-song-in-my-heart/
Inspiration is a Song in my Heart DETOUR! Did anyone else besides me just break into that catchy old tune, 🎶“Detour, there’s a muddy road ahead, detour!” No? Well, I grew up with two older sisters and a brother, and our family did

It’s my Christmas blog! Enjoy! Wishing you and yours a joyous Christmas!
https://drawnbyinspiration.com/joy-through-inspiration/
Joy through Inspiration As our kids get older and start independent lives and families, they don’t always make it home for Christmas. It happens in the best of families. 😉 But this year feels a little (okay, maybe a lot)
Every now and then something happens that brings a sound into my mind’s ear (is that a thing, like your mind’s eye? If not, it should be). Sometimes it’s a song that is the trigger. Other times it is literally just a sound like a certain “bing” or tone. The sound often transports my mind right back to when and where I heard it most memorably. It makes me think of the classic Christmas movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life!” Now admit it, you just heard the sound of the bell that meant an angel got his wings, didn’t you?
Or maybe the bell you hear in your mind’s ear is Santa’s bell from Polar Express. I hope you still hear it. That means the spirit of Christmas is alive and well in your heart.
I also get chills just thinking about the end of the Peter Pan stage play. They used to play it on TV occasionally. Tragically, Tinkerbelle’s light is fading and Peter implores the audience to affirm their belief in fairies so that Tink won’t die. The whole audience, seemingly even the hardest-hearted skeptic, yells, “I believe!” Chills, I’m telling you! And I don’t actually believe in fairies! But I’m right back in my living room watching it with my family sometime in the 60s as I hear that in my mind. Sweet memories.

I hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving in spite of the challenges this crazy year has brought. God is so good—all the time—and deserving of our praise and thanksgiving. Though we didn’t have several of the family together like we had hoped, we spent time seeing their beloved faces and talking over each other online, and that made it so much better than we thought it might be. We were able to have thanksgiving dinner with our daughter’s family, and it was just a very special time all day! I am so thankful for technology that honestly has made weathering the pandemic so much more bearable for us. https://drawnbyinspiration.com/an-inspired-thanksgiving/

One of the things that has hit quite a few people hard is not being able to go to the theme parks this year. We didn’t have a trip planned so it isn’t a problem for us, but I do think about it. This is actually Knott’s Berry Farm’s 100th birthday—100 years from Walter Knott’s arrival on the property. As I was baking a boysenberry pie a couple of days ago I thought about that—and wrote blog post about Knott’s and boysenberries. Take a look, especially if you have fond memories of the Knott’s of yesteryear!
