I oppose Governor Abbott's decision to prohibit requiring masks in public schools after June 4. I am concerned about the health and safety of our students who are not eligible to be vaccinated, the members of our community who are immunocompromised and those who have not been able to get vaccinated yet. COVID-19 still poses a threat to our community. Abbott's decision goes against the CDC's guidance for schools and could cause needless illness and death in San Antonio.

Why I'm running for SAISD District 1
I believe that public schools are the heart of our communities and the foundation of our democracy and that our society is only as strong as our public schools. Schools can and should be a model for a better world, and provide spaces where we can work together to build a just future for all people.
