Now in the care of Heather's Foster Dogs, Percy is a 15 y.o., blind, deaf, arthritic Yorkshire Terrier mix who was dumped, not given up at a shelter, but dumped suffering from severe malnourishment, abscessed teeth & an inverted eyelid.
Percy has been released.
Unfortunately Percy could not long enjoy the relief of his eyelid no longer being inverted, of having no diseased & abscessed teeth, of being held, of being fed decently. Percy's kidneys had been abused too long.

After a full day of rest, Percy's recovery from surgery seems to be progressing. Percy is not yet interested in dog food yet, but he is digging chopped sirloin.
Successful dental & entropion surgery! Percy is in his bed, ready for the ride home.
Finding more places to get stuck.
Percy explores a section of the yard on the Spring Equinox 2022.
Walking inside has led Percy into minor trouble. Percy seemingly cannot walk backward so gets stuck in various places while walking around the house & has to be picked up & placed down elsewhere.
On his third night in his foster home, Percy stood up on his own & walked inside for the first time.
On his second day in his foster home, Percy does a little exploring the backyard.
Standing & taking in the odors in the backyard during his first morning in his foster home.
Bedtime.
First meal in his foster home.
Inside his foster home, Percy lays down where his set down.
Up close meeting with Orion, Waddy & Ringo.
At his foster home, Percy was placed in the puppy pen to be introduced to the residents & other fosters. Laura & Winnie are oblivious to Percy. Only Waddy seems at all interested.
Percy immediately was taken to Heather's Foster Dogs vet for evaluation & further medical attention. Thought to be approximately 15 years old Percy & 8 pounds, as well as being severely malnourished, was found to be blind, deaf, arthritic, have an inverted eyelid which had ulcerated that eye, have several abscessed teeth, a minor heart murmur & keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eye syndrome). Further examination showed Percy's heart, lungs, kidney & liver functions were high enough to give him a good chance to make it through surgery. The vet prescribed an antibiotic, an ointment for the ulcerated eye, a pain reducing drug & eye drops. Surgery was scheduled for Tuesday, 22 March to removed abscessed teeth & to correct Percy's inverted eyelid. Tests later revealed Percy was infested with hookworms; a dewormer was added to his medications.
At Mallard Point, the vet confirmed Percy to be blind & severely malnourished, in need of rescue rather than staying at a shelter.
Taken to Joliet Township Animal Control where initial evaluation led the staff to transfer him quickly to their veterinarian, Mallard Point Veterinary Clinic in Channahon, IL.
