JEA names Margie R***r, MJE, of Rock Hill High School in Frisco, Texas, the 2024 Broadcast Adviser of the Year.
“Margie R***r is a new generation journalism instructor teaching a new generation of high school journalists,” Laura Widmer, National Scholastic Press Association executive director, said. “She teaches her students the importance of collaborative, multi-platform student media operations.”

Students who earn more than 50 points through competition at the local, regional, state and national levels earn acceptance to the All-State Journalism Staff. We celebrate these students for excellence in scholastic journalism from UIL competition to yearbook, newspaper, online news and broadcast journalism competitions.

Congratulations to Anna Bell Lee from Texas High School, the photographer who shot the first-ever ILPC Photo of the Year.
To achieve this honor, Lee won first place in the Online News Sports Feature Photo category for 5A schools. Of the four first-place Sports Feature Photos in the IAA contest, judges selected Lee’s image as “Tops in Texas.”
All Tops in Texas photography winners in yearbook, newspaper and online news were put in front of a panel of judges to select the top photo submitted for an ILPC contest during the 2023-2024 school year.
